This work focusses on the pilot run of a simulation campaign aimed at investigating the spectroscopic capabilities of the Euclid NearInfrared Spectrometer and Photometer (NISP), in terms of continuum and emission line detection in the context of galaxy evo ...

Dense micron-sized electron plasmas, such as those generated upon irradiation of nanostructured metallic surfaces by intense femtosecond laser pulses, constitute a rich playground to study light-matter interactions, many-body phenomena, and out-of-equilibr ...

The magnetic moment of rare earth elements originates from electrons in the partially filled 4f orbitals. Accessing this moment electrically by scanning tunneling spectroscopy is hampered by shielding of outerlying orbitals. Here, we show that we can detec ...

Appropriate waste and resource management are essential for a sustainable circular economy with reduced environmental impact. With critical resources, e-waste may serve as indirect raw material. For example, with NdFeB permanent magnets, Neodymium (Nd) and ...

The synthesis of lanthanides other than cerium in the oxidation state +IV has remained a desirable but unmet target until recently, when two examples of Tb-IV with saturated coordination spheres were isolated. Here we report the third example of an isolate ...

Compressive Raman imaging has emerged as a promising technique to speed up chemical imaging by compressing the data during acquisition. Yet, current scanning imaging speed is fundamentally limited by the sensors pixel dwell times of at best 1 µs. Here, we ...

The development of novel fluorogenic probes and their use in live-cell imaging lead to a plethora of discoveries in biological research. Herein I report on novel red fluorogenic probes for live-cell super-resolution microscopy of various cellular organelle ...

Studying dynamic biological processes, such as heart development and function in zebrafish embryos, often relies on multi-channel fluorescence labeling to distinguish multiple anatomical features, yet also demands high frame rates to capture rapid cell mot ...

Magnetophononics, the modulation of magnetic interactions by driving infrared-active lattice excitations, is emerging as a key mechanism for the ultrafast dynamical control of both semiclassical and quantum spin systems by coherent light. We demonstrate th ...

Fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLI) is increasingly recognized as a powerful tool for biochemical and cellular investigations, including in vivo applications. Fluorescence lifetime is an intrinsic characteristic of any fluorescent dye which, to a large ext ...

The growing interest in near-infrared (NIR) imaging is explained by the increasing number of applications in this spectral range, which includes process monitoring and medical imaging. NIR-to-visible optical upconverters made by integrating a NIR photosens ...

Some oxygen defective metal oxides, such as cerium and bismuth oxides, have recently shown exceptional electrostrictive properties that are even superior to the best performing lead-based electrostrictors, e.g. lead-magnesium-niobates (PMN). Compared to pi ...

Lanthanides (Ln) usually occur in the +3, or more recently the +2, oxidation states. The only example of an isolated molecular Ln(4+) so far remains Ce4+. Here we show that the +4 oxidation state is also accessible in a molecular compound of terbium as dem ...

Cu-Mn-Dy resistive thin films were prepared on glass and Al2O3 substrates, which was achieved by co-sputtering the Cu-Mn alloy and dysprosium targets. The effects of the addition of dysprosium on the electrical properties and microstructures of annealed Cu ...

A Multichromatic Calibration (MC) method of at least a spectral sensor which is one of a list comprising at least a spectrometer, a multispectral sensor, a hyperspectral sensor, a spectral camera, a color camera. The method comprises a. generating a plural ...

The chemistry of divalent lanthanides has generated increasing interest in the past years due to their redox properties and unique reaction pathways. Notably, molecular complexes of low-valent lanthanides have been shown to be suitable one-electron reducta ...

The composite of samarium doped ceria (Sm0.2Ce0.8O2-delta, SDC) and co-doped barium cerate (BaZr0.1Ce0.7Y0.1Yb0.1O3-delta, BZCYYb) is prepared by mechanical mixing and investigated as electrolyte for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFC ...

Radiation properties of a pointlike source of light, such as a molecule or a semiconductor quantum dot, can be tailored by modifying its photonic environment. This phenomenon lies at the core of cavity quantum electrodynamics (CQED). Quantum dots in photon ...

In a time of rising concern about climate change and pollution, the water quality of large lakes acts as an indicator of the health of the environment. To study the water quality at a large scale - up to several hundreds of kilometres - hyperspectral remot ...

The development of a scalable chemical bath deposition (CBD) process facilitates the realization of electrontransporting layers (ETLs) for large-area perovskite solar modules (PSMs). Herein, a method to prepare a uniform and scalable thick Zn2SnO4 ETL by C ...
