A closed-loop servo control based on balancing the gain of two probing frequencies is proposed for real-time Brillouin optical time-domain analysis (BOTDA) without post-processing. With the most basic BOTDA hardware setup, the system can perform measuremen ...

Editor's notes: The cross-layer approach presented in this article involves co-designing a feedback controller's parameters together with the schedule of an Ethernet network used for communicating state information and control signals.-Samarjit Chakraborty ...

This letter presents closed-loop position control of a pneumatically actuated modular robotic platform "pneumagami" that can be stacked to enlarge work and design space for wearable applications. The module is a 3 degrees of freedom (DoF) parallel robot wi ...

Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL) setups have gained high importance in validation of the performance of newly developed instruments and devices with low risk and implementation cost. However, the interconnection of a power hardware with a simulated model ...

A feedback control design is proposed for stochastic systems with finite second moment which aims at maximising the region of attraction of the equilibrium point. Polynomial Chaos (PC) expansions are employed to represent the stochastic closed loop system ...

In daily adaptive proton therapy (DAPT), the treatment plan is re-optimized on a daily basis. It is a straightforward idea to incorporate information from the previous deliveries during the optimization to refine this daily proton delivery. A feedback sign ...

Optimization-based controllers are advanced control systems whose mechanism of determining control inputs requires the solution of a mathematical optimization problem. In this thesis, several contributions related to the computational effort required for o ...

The present disclosure provides a closed-loop system for real-time control of epidural and/or subdural electrical stimulation comprising means for applying to a subject neuromodulation with adjustable stimulation parameters, said means being operatively co ...

In this paper, we present an integrator-differentiator transimpedance amplifier (TIA) featuring a multielement pseudo-resistor (MEPR) in the DC feedback path for improved noise performance in the presence of non-zero DC input currents. The presented protot ...

Nearly all scanning probe microscopes (SPMs) contain a feedback controller, which is used to move the scanner in the direction of the z-axis in order to maintain a constant setpoint based on the tip-sample interaction. The most frequently used feedback con ...

Quantum correlations between imprecision and backaction are a hallmark of continuous linear measurements. Here, we study how measurement-based feedback can be used to improve the visibility of quantum correlations due to the interaction of a laser field wi ...

The present invention provides a closed-loop system for real-time control of epidural and/or subdural electrical stimulation comprising: means for applying to a subject neuromodulation with adjustable stimulation parameters, said means being operatively co ...

The Grid Explicit Congestion Notification control mechanism (GECN) is a broadcast-based real-time demand- response mechanism designed for primary voltage control in Active Distribution Networks (ADNs) [1,2]. An extensive set of off-line simulations has ind ...

Experimental assessment or prediction of plant steady state is important for many applications in the area of modeling and operation of continuous processes. For example, the iterative implementation of static real-time optimization requires reaching stead ...

This thesis addresses the design of optimization-based control laws for the case where convergence to a desired set-point, minimization of an arbitrary performance index, or a combination of the two, is the desired objective. The results are developed with ...

The latest wearable technologies demand more intuitive and sophisticated interfaces for communication, sensing, and feedback closer to the body. Evidently, such interfaces require flexibility and conformity without losing their functionality even on rigid ...

This thesis uses the idea of lifting (or embedding) a nonlinear controlled dynamical system into an infinite-dimensional space of measures where this system is equivalently described by a linear equation. This equation and problems involving it are subsequ ...

Abstract of the conference paper The kinetic identification of chemical reaction systems often represents a time-consuming and complex task. This contribution presents an approach that uses rate estimation and feedback linearization to implement ...

This paper presents a methodology for the design of broadband electroacoustic resonators for low-frequency room equalization. An electroacoustic resonator denotes a loudspeaker used as a membrane resonator, the acoustic impedance of which can be modified t ...

Recent analysis of empirical data from cities showed that a macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) of urban traffic provides for different network regions a unimodal, low-scatter relationship between network vehicle density and network space-mean flow. In t ...
