Ethernet

Il réalise les fonctions de la couche physique et de la couche liaison de données (couches 1 et 2) du modèle OSI. C'est une norme internationale ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3. Il a été conçu au début des années 1970 pour faire communiquer des ordinateurs rattachés à un même « éther », c'est-à-dire, un milieu passif capable de transférer des données, comme un câble coaxial.

Closed-loop controller

A closed-loop controller or feedback controller is a control loop which incorporates feedback, in contrast to an open-loop controller or non-feedback controller. A closed-loop controller uses feedback to control states or outputs of a dynamical system. Its name comes from the information path in the system: process inputs (e.g., voltage applied to an electric motor) have an effect on the process outputs (e.g., speed or torque of the motor), which is measured with sensors and processed by the controller; the result (the control signal) is "fed back" as input to the process, closing the loop.

Railway signalling

Railway signalling ( ()), also called railroad signaling ( ()), is a system used to control the movement of railway traffic. Trains move on fixed rails, making them uniquely susceptible to collision. This susceptibility is exacerbated by the enormous weight and inertia of a train, which makes it difficult to quickly stop when encountering an obstacle. In the UK, the Regulation of Railways Act 1889 introduced a series of requirements on matters such as the implementation of interlocked block signalling and other safety measures as a direct result of the Armagh rail disaster in that year.
