Upcoming wide-field surveys will discover thousands of new strongly lensed quasars which will be monitored with unprecedented cadence by the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). Many of these quasars will undergo caustic-crossing events over the 10-yr L ...

We analyze variability in 15-season optical lightcurves from the doubly imaged lensed quasar SDSS J165043.44+425149.3 (SDSS1650), comprising five seasons of monitoring data from the Maidanak Observatory (277 nights in total, including the two seasons of da ...

We investigate the stability of the steady vertical path and the emerging trajectories of a buoyancy -driven annular disk as the diameter of its central hole is varied. The steady and axisymmetric wake associated with the steady vertical path of the disk, ...

A rare case of a quasar acting as a gravitational lens allows a precise determination of the mass of the quasar's host galaxy and offers a new path to studying the connections between supermassive black holes and their host galaxies. ...

Primordial black holes (PBHs) are black holes that might have formed in high density regions in the early universe. The presence of local-type non-Gaussianity can lead to large-scale fluctuations in the PBH formation rate. If PBHs make up a non-negligible ...

The allene radical cation can be stabilized both by Jahn-Teller distortion of the bond lengths and by torsion of the end-groups. However, only the latter happens and the allene radical cation relaxes into a twisted D-2 symmetry structure with equal double- ...

Numerous contemporary investigations in condensed matter physics are devoted to high temperature (high-T-c) cuprate superconductors. Despite its unique effulgence among research subjects, the enigma of the high-T-c mechanism still persists. One way to adva ...

The physics of the triangular lattice Hubbard model exhibits a rich phenomenology, ranging from a metal-insulator transition, intriguing thermodynamic behavior, and a putative spin liquid phase at intermediate coupling, ultimately becoming a magnetic insul ...

One of the main challenges in using high-redshift active galactic nuclei (AGNs) to study the correlations between the mass of a supermassive black hole (M-BH) and the properties of its active host galaxy is instrumental resolution. Strong lensing magnifica ...

The ab initio determination of electronic excited state (ES) properties is the cornerstone of theoretical photochemistry. Yet, traditional ES methods become impractical when applied to fairly large molecules, or when used on thousands of systems. Machine l ...

We report muon spin rotation and magnetic susceptibility experiments on in-plane stress effects on the static spin-stripe order and superconductivity in the cuprate system La2-xBaxCuO4 with x = 0.115. An extremely low uniaxial stress of similar to 0.1 GPa ...

In recent years, the notion of 'Quantum Materials' has emerged as a powerful unifying concept across diverse fields of science and engineering, from condensed-matter and coldatom physics to materials science and quantum computing. Beyond traditional quantu ...

Systems of enhanced memory capacity are subjected to a universal effect of memory burden, which suppresses their decay. In this paper, we study a prototype model to show that memory burden can be overcome by rewriting stored quantum information from one se ...

We use complex semiclassical method to compute scattering amplitudes of a point particle in dilaton gravity with a boundary. This model has nonzero minimal black hole mass M-cr. We find that at energies below M-cr the particle trivially scatters off the bo ...

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey V (SDSS-V) is an all-sky spectroscopic survey of more than 6 million objects, designed to decode the history of the Milky Way, reveal the inner workings of stars, investigate the origin of solar systems, and track the growth of ...

We propose an exact construction for atypical excited states of a class of nonintegrable quantum many-body Hamiltonians in one, two, and three dimensions that display area-law entanglement entropy. These examples of many-body "scar" states have, by design, ...

We have used exact numerical diagonalization to study the excitation spectrum and the dynamic spin correlations in the s = 1/2 next-next-nearest-neighbor Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the square lattice, with additional four-spin ring exchange from higher- ...

We report a combined experimental and theoretical investigation that reveals a new mechanism responsible for the enhancement of electron-phonon coupling in doped semiconductors in which multiple inequivalent valleys are simultaneously populated. Using Rama ...

We present reverberation-mapping (RM) lags and black hole mass measurements using the C IV lambda 1549 broad emission line from a sample of 348 quasars monitored as a part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey RM Project. Our data span four years of spectroscopi ...

Quantum states cohere and interfere. Atoms arranged imperfectly in a solid rarely display these properties. Here we demonstrate an exception in a disordered quantum magnet that divides itself into nearly isolated subsystems. We probe these coherent spin cl ...
