Does gravity affect decision-making? This question comes into sharp focus as plans for interplanetary human space missions solidify. In the framework of Bayesian brain theories, gravity encapsulates a strong prior, anchoring agents to a reference frame via ...

BackgroundUnilateral spatial neglect (USN) is a debilitating neuropsychological syndrome that often follows brain injury, in particular a stroke affecting the right hemisphere. In current clinical practice, the assessment of neglect is based on old-fashion ...

Quantum Field Theory(QFT) as one of the most promising frameworks to study high energy and condensed matter physics, has been mostly developed by perturbative methods. However, perturbative methods can only capture a small island of the space of QFTs. QFT ...

It is well known since the works of Utiyama and Kibble that the gravitational force can be obtained by gauging the Poincare group, which puts gravity on the same footing as the standard model fields. The resulting theory-Einstein-Cartan gravity-inevitably ...

We consider the problem of estimating stochastic volatility for a class of second-order parabolic stochastic PDEs. Assuming that the solution is observed at high temporal frequency, we use limit theorems for multipower variations and related functionals to ...

In many problems such as phase retrieval, molecular biology, source localization, and sensor array calibration, one can measure vector differences between pairs of points and attempt to recover the position of these points; this class of problems is called ...

We measure the clustering of quasars of the final data release (DR16) of eBOSS. The sample contains 343 708 quasars between redshifts 0.8

Given any solutionuof the Euler equations which is assumed to have some regularity in space-in terms of Besov norms, natural in this context-we show by interpolation methods that it enjoys a corresponding regularity in time and that the associated pressure ...

This article presents a novel experimental method that uses a virtual reality (VR) headset, aiming to provide an alternative environment for the conduction of subjective assessments of daylit spaces. This method can overcome the difficulty of controlling t ...

The Poisson summation formula (PSF) describes the equivalence between the sampling of an analog signal and the periodization of its frequency spectrum. In engineering textbooks, the PSF is usually stated formally without explicit conditions on the signal f ...

Cities are much more than just the background of our lives, or complex artefacts. They are the social field and the content over which we quarrel; the reason and the tool by which we co-operate. Cities are shaped in the form of our passions. Those passions ...

Decision making and planning with partial state information is a problem faced by all forms of intelligent entities. The formulation of a problem under partial state information leads to an exorbitant set of choices with associated probabilistic outcomes m ...

Spatial Justice as Pragmatic. An Experimental Approach to the Reorganisation of the Swiss Hospital Map. Since the reorganisation of hospital systems are on the agenda in most developed countries, this research project aims to know and render geographically ...

This thesis lies at the crossroad of three research fields: heterogenous mobile collective robotics, autonomous construction with mobile robots and 3D printing. The main goal of this work is to implement and study an innovative way to interact and modify t ...
