Magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) enables the simultaneous noninvasive acquisition of MR spectra from multiple spatial locations inside the brain. Although 1H-MRSI is increasingly used in the human brain, it is not yet widely applied in the p ...

Background: Fetal brain MRI is increasingly used to complement ultrasound imaging. Images are processed using complex super-resolution reconstruction pipelines, which may bias biometric and volumetric measurements. Objective: To assess the consistency of 2 ...

Compressive Raman imaging has emerged as a promising technique to speed up chemical imaging by compressing the data during acquisition. Yet, current scanning imaging speed is fundamentally limited by the sensors pixel dwell times of at best 1µs. Here, we i ...

With the emergence of ultra-portable ultrasound systems, the need to reduce cost and complexity of ultrasound systems has intensified. Sparse arrays, employing fewer transducer elements to acquire images, offer a viable solution by effectively minimizing d ...

Nanowire-based terahertz photoconductive receivers offer many advantages over the existing bulk-based receivers, such as the capability of measuring the full terahertz polarization state and integrating into micro/nano-systems. However, their detection per ...

Ultrasound imaging is one of the most widely used medical imaging modalities, with numerous applications in various fields of medicine. Today, its democratization is in full swing, with the increasing availability of quantitative parameters that simplify i ...

High-index dielectric subwavelength structures and metasurfaces are capable of enhancing light-matter interaction by orders of magnitude via geometry-dependent optical resonances. This enhancement, however, comes with a fundamental limitation of a narrow s ...

Liquids confined down to the atomic scale can show radically new properties. However, only indirect and ensemble measurements operate in such extreme confinement, calling for novel optical approaches that enable direct imaging at the molecular level. Here ...

Medipix4 is the latest member in the Medipix/Timepix family of pixel detector chips aimed at high rate spectroscopic X-ray imaging using high-Z materials. The chip address the limitations of conventional hybrid pixel detectors for X-ray imaging. Its predec ...

Lippmann (or interferential) photography is the first and only analog photography method that can capture the full color spectrum of a scene in a single take. This technique, invented more than a hundred years ago, records the colors by creating interferen ...

Harmonic nanoparticles (HNPs) have emerged as appealing exogenous probes for optical bioimaging due to their distinctive features such as long-term photostability and spectral flexibility, allowing multiphoton excitation in the classical (NIR-I) and extend ...

Machine learning has become the state of the art for the solution of the diverse inverse problems arising from computer vision and medical imaging, e.g. denoising, super-resolution, de-blurring, reconstruction from scanner data, quantitative magnetic reson ...

Transmission electron microscopy at atomic-resolution is a crucial tool in a variety of fields, ranging from materials science to biology. [1,2] Fast electron cameras have recently enabled high-speed observations atomic resolution. [3] Moreover, they have ...

We present CryoGAN, a new paradigm for single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) reconstruction based on unsupervised deep adversarial learning. In single-particle cryo-EM, the structure of a biomolecule needs to be reconstructed from a large set ...

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive brain tumor type in adults. GBM is heterogeneous, with a compact core lesion surrounded by an invasive tumor front. This front is highly relevant for tumor recurrence but is generally non-detectable using standard ...

This thesis focuses on the signal modelling of Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DW-MRI) in the brain's white matter (WM). DW-MRI a non-invasive technique with enormous potential for the study of the brain's microstructure by measuring the dif ...

To better understand the physiology and acclimation capability of the cell, one of the great challenges of the future is to access the interior of a cell and unveil its chemical landscape (composition and distribution of elements and molecules). Chemical i ...
