The J–V bump and hysteresis in perovskite solar cells are studied combining measurement and simulation, linking them to spatial collection efficiency changes from ionic charge accumulation, as visualised in external quantum efficiency (EQE) spectra. ...

To constrain cosmological models beyond ACDM, the development of the Euclid analysis pipeline requires simulations that capture the non-linear phenomenology of such models. We present an overview of numerical methods and N-body simulation codes developed t ...

The manuscript describes the development of a spatial Agent-based Simulation to model the effect of public policies on private houseowner’s decisions concerning their heating system. The methodology utilized comprises of an empirical survey to determine th ...

Antarctic precipitation remains poorly characterized and understood, especially within the boundary layer. This is due in part to a still-limited amount of surface-based remote sensing observations. A suite of cloud and precipitation remote-sensing instrum ...

In the last decade, DNA has been increasingly investigated as an alternative medium for cold data storage, presenting several advantages over standard hard drives such as a higher density, longer lifespan and lower energy consumption. However, such coding ...

We present a machine learning framework to simulate realistic galaxies for the Euclid Survey, producing more complex and realistic galaxies than the analytical simulations currently used in Euclid. The proposed method combines a control on galaxy shape par ...

Low-dimensional representations of underdamped systems often provide useful insights and analytical tractability. Here, we build such representations via information projections, obtaining an optimal model that captures the most information on observed spa ...

The development of new industrial applications has diverted the focus of research towards compacter and faster rotatory drives. These requirements push the classical ball-bearings of electric motors to the limits in terms of operational lifetime and fricti ...

In this paper, the charged polymer escapement phenomenon, via a little hole of nano-metric dimensions arranged in a constitutive biological membrane, is studied. We will present the case of the transport process of an ideal polymer in a 3-dimensional exten ...

Non-volatile memory (NVM) technologies such as PCM, ReRAM and STT-RAM allow processors to directly write values to persistent storage at speeds that are significantly faster than previous durable media such as hard drives or SSDs. Many applications of NVM ...

The surface of aqueous solutions of simple salts was not the main focus of scientific attention for a long while. Considerable interest in studying such systems has only emerged in the past two decades, following the pioneering finding that large halide io ...

The potential of the hybrid scenario (first developed as an advanced inductive scenario for high fluence) as a regime for high-beta, steady-state plasmas is demonstrated on the DIII-D tokamak. These experiments show that the beneficial characteristics of h ...

The interfaces of neat water and aqueous solutions play a prominent role in many technological processes and in the environment. Examples of aqueous interfaces are ultrathin water films that cover most hydrophilic surfaces under ambient relative humidities ...

The Mirror World is no longer an imaginary device, a mirage in a distant future, it is a reality under construction. In Europe, Asia and on the American continent, large companies and the best universities are working to build the infrastructures, to defin ...

An electron cyclotron system is one of the four auxiliary plasma heating systems to be installed on the ITER tokamak. The ITER EC system consists of 24 gyrotrons with associated 12 high voltage power supplies, a set of evacuated transmission lines and two ...

The aim of this thesis is to implement, analyze and improve the selected low noise clock generation and distribution techniques for ADC implementations. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the sampling phase generation and distr ...

The MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center and collaborators are proposing a high-performance Advanced Divertor and RF tokamak eXperiment (ADX)-a tokamak specifically designed to address critical gaps in the world fusion research programme on the pathway to ...

This thesis focuses on the signal modelling of Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DW-MRI) in the brain's white matter (WM). DW-MRI a non-invasive technique with enormous potential for the study of the brain's microstructure by measuring the dif ...

We propose, fabricate, and experimentally demonstrate a circuit based on graphene field-effect transistors (GFETs) showing enhanced negative differential resistance (NDR) characteristics at room temperature. The proposed graphene NDR (GNDR) circuit consist ...

In several domains of physics, including first principle simulations and classical models for polarizable systems, the minimization of an energy function with respect to a set of auxiliary variables must be performed to define the dynamics of physical degr ...
