The pervasive adoption of field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) in both cyber-physical systems and the cloud has raised many security issues. Being integrated circuits, FPGAs are susceptible to fault and power side-channel attacks, which require physical ...

We identified that in modern commercial FPGAs, routing signals from the general interconnect to the configurable logic blocks (CLBs) through a very sparse input interconnect block (IIB) represents a significant runtime bottleneck. This is despite academic ...

Field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) have become critical components in many cloud computing platforms. These devices possess the fine-grained parallelism and specialization needed to accelerate applications ranging from machine learning to networking an ...

Cloud computing environments increasingly provision FPGAs because of their fine-grained, highly parallel, and flexible hardware architecture. The availability of FPGAs in the cloud fueled research on the security risks associated with exposing FPGA fabric ...

FPGAs are proving useful and attractive for many applications, thanks to their hardware reconfigurability, low power, and high-degree of parallelism. As a result, modern embedded systems are often based on systems-on-chip (SoCs), where CPUs and FPGAs share ...

Long Range (LoRa) is an emerging low-power wide-area network technology offering long-range wireless connectivity to Internet of Things (IoT) devices. For energy efficiency reasons, LoRa end nodes implement a nonslotted ALOHA multiple access scheme to tran ...

The exponential growth in computing power and multimedia services has caused a tremendous increase in data traffic in recent years. This increase in data traffic brings a strong demand for data bandwidth of electrical input/output (I/O) links and pushes th ...

The increasing luminosity in HEP (High Energy Physics) colliders demands trigger systems to be more selective. First, more information from the detector is routed to the trigger system. Second, larger parts of this information are processed together. These ...

Digital micro-mirror devices (DMDs) have been deployed in many optical applications. As compared to spatial light modulators (SLMs), they are characterized by their much faster refresh rates (full-frame refresh rates up to 32 kHz for binary patterns) compa ...

LoRaWAN is a low-power wireless technology that provides long-range connectivity to battery-powered Internet of Things (IoT) devices. To minimize the energy consumption of the IoT nodes, LoRaWAN networks use for the uplink a pure non-slotted ALOHA multiple ...

In this study, one method of using antennas based on fractals to cover few kinds of public protection and disaster relief (PPDR) communications was presented. Dedicated antenna forms, necessary for antenna design by 5G implementation, were enhanced to suit ...

This paper concerns the maximum-likelihood channel estimation for MIMO systems with orthogonal space-time block codes when the finite alphabet constraint of the signal constellation is relaxed. We study the channel coefficients estimation subspace generate ...

Learning-based algorithms have gained great popularity in communications since they often outperform even carefully engineered solutions by learning from training samples. In this paper, we show that the selection of appropriate training examples can be im ...

In this work, we present an automated approach for locating power-wasting attackers in shared FPGAs. In this approach, the FPGA shell is responsible for, first, placing the user designs and, second, inserting voltage sensors in a nonintrusive and adaptive ...

Introduction: Quantitative proteomics using mass spectrometry is performed via label-free or label-based approaches. Labeling strategies rely on the incorporation of stable heavy isotopes by metabolic, enzymatic, or chemical routes. Isobaric labeling uses ...

Embedded and cyber-physical systems are pervading all aspects of our lives, including sensitive and critical ones. As a result, they are an alluring target for cyber attacks. These systems, whose implementation is often based on reconfigurable hardware, ar ...

Millimeter wave (mmWave) communication is a promising solution for coping with the ever-increasing mobile data traffic because of its large bandwidth. To enable a sufficient link margin, a large antenna array employing directional beamforming, which is ena ...

Base station (BS) architectures for massive multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems are equipped with hundreds of antennas to serve tens of users on the same time-frequency channel. The immense number of BS antennas incurs hi ...

FPGA routing is one of the most time-consuming steps of FPGA compilation, often preventing fast edit-compile-test cycles in prototyping and development. There have been attempts to accelerate FPGA routing using algorithmic improvements, multi-core or multi ...

Field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are, like CPUs, susceptible to side-channel information leakage and covert communication. The malleability of FPGAs enables users to create and control physical effects, and sense and measure the consequences. With FP ...
