Dual-comb interferometry utilizes two optical frequency combs to map the optical field's spectrum to a radio-frequency signal without using moving parts, allowing improved speed and accuracy. However, the method is compounded by the complexity and demandin ...

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are collections of sensing devices using wireless communication to exchange data. In the past decades, steep advancements in the areas of microelectronics and communication systems have driven an explosive growth in the depl ...

Radio interferometry usually compensates for high levels of noise in sensor/antenna electronics by throwing data and energy at the problem: observe longer, then store and process it all. We propose instead a method to remove the noise explicitly before ima ...

In this letter, we describe an LDPC code design framework for the unequal power two-user Gaussian multiple access channel using EXIT charts. We show that the sumrate of the LDPC codes designed using our approach can get close to the maximal sum-rate of the ...

FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Array) are an attractive technology for high-speed data processing in space missions due to their unbeatable flexibility and best performance-to-power ratio in comparison to software. However FPGAs suffer from 3 major drawbac ...

Solitons are waveforms that preserve their shape while propagating, as a result of a balance of dispersion and nonlinearity(1,2). Soliton-based data transmission schemes were investigated in the 1980s and showed promise as a way of overcoming the limitatio ...

3D ultrasound (US) acquisition acquires volumetric images, thus alleviating a classical US imaging bottleneck that requires a highly-trained sonographer to operate the US probe. However, this opportunity has not been explored in practice, since 3D US machi ...

This paper demonstrates the feasibility of implementing real-time state estimators for active distribution networks in field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) by presenting an operational prototype. The prototype is based on a linear state estimator that us ...

In most robotic and biomedical applications, the interest for real-time embedded systems with tactile ability has been growing. For example in prosthetics, a dedicated portable system is needed for developing wearable devices. The main challenges for such ...

FPGAs offer high performance coupled with energy efficiency making them extremely attractive computational resources within a cloud ecosystem. However, to achieve this integration and make them easy to program, we first need to enable users with varying ex ...

In thiswork,we present aminiaturized high definition vision system inspired by insect eyes, with a distributed illumination method, which can work in dark environments for proximity imaging applications such as endoscopy. Our approach is based on modeling ...

While wired infrastructure constitutes the backbone of most wireless networks, wireless systems appeal the most to the dynamic and rapidly evolving requirements of today's communication systems because of their ease of deployment and mobility, not to menti ...

The design and development of innovative FPGA architectures hinge on the flexibility of its toolchain. Retargetable toolchains, like the Verilog-to-Routing (VTR) flow, have been developed to enable the testing of new FPGAs by mapping circuits onto easily-d ...
