Now is an exciting time for the domain of Earth observation (EO), with a multitude of diverse sensors looking at the planet from satellites, airplanes or drones. The volume of imagery acquired is massive, and hold great potential for a variety of applicati ...

Facial paralysis is a highly burdening condition, resulting in a patient's inability to move his musculature on one or both sides of the mouth. The restoration of facial movement is crucial for enhancing the overall patients' quality of life. The use of DE ...

Real-time bioaerosol monitoring is improving the quality of life for people affected by allergies, but it often relies on deep learning models which pose challenges for widespread adoption. These models are typically trained in a supervised fashion and req ...

As one of the major threats to women's health worldwide, breast cancer requires early diagnosis and accurate classification, since they are key to optimizing therapeutic interventions and ensuring precise prognosis. Recently, deep learning has demonstrated ...

We are motivated primarily by the adaptation of text-to-speech synthesis models; however we argue that more generic parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) is an appropriate framework to do such adaptation. Nevertheless, catastrophic forgetting remains an i ...

Recent years have seen remarkable advancements in saliency estimation methods, mainly due to deep learning models leveraging the widespread availability of real-world images. However, saliency is profoundly shaped by the intricacies of the human visual att ...

From the nineteenth-century panorama to the emergence of the digital panoramic format in the 's, the visualization of large images frequently relies on panoramic viewing strategies. Originally rendered in the form of epic painted canvases, these strategies ...

Earth scientists study a variety of problems with remote sensing data, but they most often consider them in isolation from each other, which limits information flows across disciplines. In this work, we present METEOR, a meta-learning methodology for Earth ...

We study correlation functions of the bulk stress tensor and boundary operators in Quantum Field Theories (QFT) in Anti-de Sitter (AdS) space. In particular, we derive new sum rules from the two-point function of the stress tensor and its three-point funct ...

This chapter explores the intersection of generative AI and personalized learning, emphasizing the role of educators and examining the application of large language models (LLMs) in crafting personalized learning paths. The chapter examines the perception ...

This paper investigates the potential impact of deep generative models on the work of creative professionals. We argue that current generative modeling tools lack critical features that would make them useful creativity support tools, and introduce our own ...

Federated learning (FL) has recently emerged as a compelling machine learning paradigm, prioritizing the protection of privacy for training data. The increasing demand to address issues such as "the right to be forgotten" and combat data poisoning attacks ...

In this paper, we use synthetic data and propose a new method for template inversion attacks against face recognition systems. We use synthetic data to train a face reconstruction model to generate high-resolution (i.e., 1024 x 1024) face images from facia ...

Over the years, clinical institutes accumulated large amounts of digital slides from resected tissue specimens. These digital images, called whole slide images (WSIs), are high-resolution tissue snapshots that depict the complex interaction of cells at the ...

Current procedures for the rapid inspection of buildings and infrastructure are subjective, time-consuming, and cumbersome to document, necessitating new technologies to automate the process and eliminate these shortcomings. Fortunately, recent development ...

We introduce the first multitasking vision transformer adapters that learn generalizable task affinities which can be applied to novel tasks and domains. Integrated into an off-the-shelf vision transformer backbone, our adapters can simultaneously solve mu ...

We present an approach to bridge the gap between the computational models of human vision and the clinical practice on visual impairments (VI). In a nutshell, we propose to connect advances in neuroscience and machine learning to study the impact of VI on ...

As text generative models can give increasingly long answers, we tackle the problem of synthesizing long text in digital ink. We show that the commonly used models for this task fail to generalize to long-form data and how this problem can be solved by aug ...

Over the past two decades, epidural electrical stimulation (EES) has transitioned from a treatment for chronic pain to a promising paradigm for ameliorating deficits associated with neurological disorders like spinal cord injury (SCI) and Parkinson's Disea ...
