A multidisciplinary platform is presented to address aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) modulation. A rewired Yonemitsu multicomponent reaction with indole 2-carboxaldehydes and nucleophilic species was designed to access a family of 6-substituted indolocarba ...

In two-stage solid-state transformers (SSTs) equipped with LLC DC/DC converters for galvanic isolation, fixed-frequency open-loop operation of LLC stages has been a straightforward and prevailing design choice. Meanwhile, with a closed-loop-operated LLC co ...

Achieving strongly nonreciprocal scattering in compact linear acoustic devices is a challenging task. One possible solution is the use of time-modulated resonators; however, their implementation in the realm of audible airborne acoustics is typically hinde ...

The output of inductive power transfer (IPT) systems typically depends heavily on the load resistance and the coupling conditions of the inductive coupler. In this article, we implement variable frequency control and phase-shift control to enhance misalign ...

An optical reflector chip (10) comprising a waveguide arrangement (11) configured to guide optical radiation and a modulation device (3). The waveguide arrangement (11) comprises a Bragg grating section (111), the Bragg grating section (111) comprising a p ...

The auditory brainstem implant (ABI) is an auditory neuroprosthesis that provides hearing by electrically stimulating the cochlear nucleus (CN) of the brainstem. Our previous study (McInturff et al., 2022) showed that single-pulse stimulation of the dorsal ...

With the increase in penetration of power electronic converters in the power systems, a demand for overcurrent/ overloading capability has risen for the fault clearance duration. This article gives an overview of the limiting factors and the recent technol ...

Modular multilevel converters achieve voltage scalability through the series connection of cells, each with its own capacitance. However, this converter structure using floating energy storage elements increases the control complexity significantly. The vo ...

The progressive displacing of conventional generation in favor of renewable energy sources requires restoring an adequate capacity of regulating power to ensure reliable operation of power systems. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESSs) are considered to b ...

The safe and reliable operation of modern power system imposes the need to describe and estimate the system stability through impedance-admittance measurement and identification. The integration and operation of medium voltage equipment in existing infrast ...

The extensive deployment of non-synchronous generation determines lower level of grid inertia resulting in deteriorated frequency containment performance and abnormal frequency excursions in case of contingency. This calls for identifying assets, controls, ...

Competitive state-of-the-art automatic pathological speech intelligibility measures typically rely on regression training on a large number of features, require a large amount of healthy speech training data, or are applicable only to phonetically balanced ...

Iron(II) cage complexes with terminal 4-pyridyl groups can be incorporated in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) via solvent-assisted ligand exchange (SALE). Paddle -wheeled MOFs with N,N'-di-4-pyridylnaphthalenete-tracarboxydiimide pillars were used as start ...

We study experimentally the longitudinal and transverse wakefields driven by a highly relativistic proton bunch during self-modulation in plasma. We show that the wakefields' growth and amplitude increase with increasing seed amplitude as well as with the ...

This paper presents the converter configuration acting as a medium voltage DC source. In order to obtain desired voltage across the DC terminals, two series connected modular multilevel converters are used. The use of modular multilevel converters results ...

Driving DEAs requires time-varying high voltage power supplies, up to 18kV for 200um polymer layers. HV amplifiers are commonly used but bulky and expensive. Designing embedded actuators requires compact and efficient powersupplies. Furthermore, only a lit ...

Multi-port DC-DC converters are an attractive solution for highly flexible and efficient interface of different elements of DC grids (e.g., sources, loads, energy storage). This paper provides an analytic solution for the natural power sharing characterist ...

Employing polymer cantilevers has shown to outperform using their silicon or silicon nitride analogues concerning the imaging speed of atomic force microscopy (AFM) in tapping mode (intermittent contact mode with amplitude modulation) by up to one order of ...

Quantum states cohere and interfere. Atoms arranged imperfectly in a solid rarely display these properties. Here we demonstrate an exception in a disordered quantum magnet that divides itself into nearly isolated subsystems. We probe these coherent spin cl ...

The stress system is a key modulator of homeostasis and allows organisms to adapt to environmental changes. Proper survival is dependent on the appropriate stress response, for example initiating food (energy) intake or provoking physical reaction. However ...
