By juxtaposing ideas from fractal geometry and dynamical systems, Furstenberg proposed a series of conjectures in the late 1960's that explore the relationship between digit expansions with respect to multiplicatively independent bases. In this work, we in ...

Kontsevich and Soibelman reformulated and slightly generalised the topological recursion of [43], seeing it as a quantisation of certain quadratic Lagrangians in T*V for some vector space V. KS topological recursion is a procedure which takes as initial da ...

The sheaf-function correspondence identifies the group of constructible functions on a real analytic manifold M with the Grothendieck group of constructible sheaves on M. When M is a finite dimensional real vector space, Kashiwara-Schapira have recently in ...

Topological charge plays a significant role in a range of physical systems. In particular, observations of real-space topological objects in magnetic materials have been largely limited to skyrmions - states with a unitary topological charge. Recently, mor ...

Let K be a totally real number field of degree n >= 2. The inverse different of K gives rise to a lattice in Rn. We prove that the space of Schwartz Fourier eigenfunctions on R-n which vanish on the "component-wise square root" of this lattice, is infinite ...

Collapsing cell complexes was first introduced in the 1930's as a way to deform a space into a topological-equivalent subspace with a sequence of elementary moves. Recently, discrete Morse theory techniques provided an efficient way to construct deformatio ...

Since the birth of Information Theory, researchers have defined and exploited various information measures, as well as endowed them with operational meanings. Some were born as a "solution to a problem", like Shannon's Entropy and Mutual Information. Other ...

In this paper we investigate pointed (q, g, n)-Boltzmann loop-decorated maps with loops traversing only inner triangular faces. Using peeling exploration Budd (2018) modified to this setting we show that its law in the non-generic critical phase can be cod ...

The heterogeneity of today's Web sources requires information retrieval (IR) systems to handle multi-modal queries. Such queries define a user's information needs by different data modalities, such as keywords, hashtags, user profiles, and other media. Rec ...

Shadows for bicategories, defined by Ponto, provide a useful framework that generalizes classical and topological Hochschild homology. In this paper, we define Hochschild-type invariants for monoids in a symmetric monoidal, simplicial model category V, as ...

In this thesis, we study the homotopical relations of 2-categories, double categories, and their infinity-analogues. For this, we construct homotopy theories for the objects of interest, and show that there are homotopically full embeddings of 2-categories ...

We study a fixed point property for linear actions of discrete groups on weakly complete convex proper cones in locally convex topological vector spaces. We search to understand the class of discrete groups which enjoys this property and we try to generali ...

Let G = (V, E) be a simple loopless finite undirected graph. We say that G is (2-factor) expandable if for any non-edge uv, G + uv has a 2-factor F that contains uv. We are interested in the following: Given a positive integer n = vertical bar V vertical b ...

Let P be a partially ordered set. The function La* (n, P) denotes the size of the largest family F subset of 2([n]) that does not contain an induced copy of P. It was proved by Methuku and Palvolgyi that there exists a constant C-P (depending only on P) su ...

We propose two decompositions that help to summarize and describe high-dimensional tail dependence within the framework of regular variation. We use a transformation to define a vector space on the positive orthant and show that transformed-linear operatio ...

It is proved that the continuous bounded cohomology of SL2(k) vanishes in all positive degrees whenever k is a non-Archimedean local field. This holds more generally for boundary-transitive groups of tree automorphisms and implies low degree vanishing for ...

We apply the Acyclicity Theorem of Hess, Kedziorek, Riehl, and Shipley (recently corrected by Garner, Kedziorek, and Riehl) to establishing the existence of model category structure on categories of coalgebras over comonads arising from simplicial adjuncti ...

By theoretically investigating the optical behavior of one-dimensional gold nanogratings using Fourier Modal Method, we have shown that both integer and non-integer multiples of surface plasmon polariton wavelengths should be taken into consideration in sp ...

A convolution algebra is a topological vector space X that is closed under the convolution operation. It is said to be inverse-closed if each element of X whose spectrum is bounded away from zero has a convolution inverse that is also part of the algebra. ...

Let P be a partially ordered set. If the Boolean lattice (2[n],⊂) can be partitioned into copies of P for some positive integer n, then P must satisfy the following two trivial conditions: (1) the size of P is a power of 2, (2) P has a unique maximal and m ...
