We study the topological recurrence phenomenon of actions of locally compact abelian groups on compact metric spaces. In the case of Zd actions, we develop new techniques to analyze Bohr recurrence sets, and show that Bohr recurrence implies recurrence for ...

Let K be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, and let G be a connected reductive algebraic group over K. We address the problem of classifying triples (G, H, V ), where H is a proper connected subgroup of G, and V is a finitedimensional ir ...

In this text, we will show the existence of lattice packings in a family of dimensions by employing division algebras. This construction is a generalization of Venkatesh's lattice packing result Venkatesh (Int Math Res Notices 2013(7): 1628-1642, 2013). In ...

Niobium nitride (NbN) is a particularly promising material for quantum technology applications, as it shows the degree of reproducibility necessary for large-scale superconducting circuits. We demonstrate that resonators based on NbN thin films present a o ...

The arise of disagreement is an emergent phenomenon that can be observed within a growing social group and, beyond a certain threshold, can lead to group fragmentation. To better understand how disagreement emerges, we introduce an analytically tractable m ...

We establish new results on the weak containment of quasi-regular and Koopman representations of a second countable locally compact group G

G

associated with nonsingular G

G

-spaces. We deduce that any two boundary representations of a hyperbolic locally ...

We present a framework for performing regression when both covariate and response are probability distributions on a compact and convex subset of

\R^d

. Our regression model is based on the theory of optimal transport and links the conditional Fr'echet m ...

We investigate generalizations along the lines of the Mordell-Lang conjecture of the author's p-adic formal Manin-Mumford results for n-dimensional p-divisible formal groups F. In particular, given a finitely generated subgroup (sic) of F(Q(p)) and a close ...

We implement Euler bends to build compact high-Q Si3N4 racetrack microresonators, featuring a small footprint of only 0.21 mm(2) for 19.8 GHz FSR. We demonstrate that these multi-mode microresonators can be operated in the single-mode regime and generate a ...

We prove some new cases of the Grothendieck-Serre conjecture for classical groups. This is based on a new construction of the Gersten-Witt complex for Witt groups of Azumaya algebras with involution on regular semilocal rings, with explicit second residue ...

In this thesis, we study the stochastic heat equation (SHE) on bounded domains and on the whole Euclidean space

\R^d.

We confirm the intuition that as the bounded domain increases to the whole space, both solutions become arbitrarily close to one another ...

In the nanoscale regime, flow behaviors for liquids show qualitative deviations from bulk expectations. In this work, we reveal by molecular dynamics simulations that plug flow down to nanoscale induces molecular friction that leads to a new flow structure ...

Recent theoretical advances, based on a combination of concepts from Thouless' topological theory of adiabatic charge transport and a newly introduced gauge-invariance principle for transport coefficients, have permitted to connect (and reconcile) Faraday' ...

We consider the SQG equation with dissipation given by a fractional Laplacian of order α

We study correlation functions involving generalized ANEC operators of the form integral dx-x-n+2T--x -> in four dimensions. We compute two, three, and ...

A compact operations research (OR) model is proposed to analyse the prospects of meeting the Paris Agreement targets when direct air capture technologies can be used or not. The main features of the model are (i) the representation of the economy and energ ...

This paper presents results from 21 large-scale experiments on steel columns that examined their collapse behavior as related to steel moment resisting frames (MRFs). The test specimens included wide-flange and square hollow structural shapes (HSS) and wer ...

We determine the dimension of every simple module for the algebra of the monoid of all relations on a finite set (i.e. Boolean matrices). This is in fact the same question as the determination of the dimension of every evaluation of a simple correspondence ...

We show that for a large class C of finitely generated groups of orientation preserving homeomorphisms of the real line, the following holds: Given a group G of rank k in C, there is a sequence of k-markings (G,S-n), n is an element of N whose limit in the ...

We study actions of groups by orientation preserving homeomorphisms on R (or an interval) that are minimal, have solvable germs at +/-infinity and contain a pair of elements of a certain dynamical type. We call such actions coherent. We establish that such ...
