Cancer drug resistance remains a critical challenge in oncology, demanding rapid and reliable diagnostic tools to assess tumor cell susceptibility to treatment. This study presents a nanomotion-based drug susceptibility testing (DST) approach, integrating ...

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is among the three most commonly diagnosed cancers and one of the major causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality. Despite the discovery of several predictive biomarkers, the 5-year survival rate for metastatic CRC is 15%. A ...

Purpose: Non-viral transfection approaches are extensively used in cancer therapy. The future of cancer therapy lies on targeted and efficient drug/gene delivery. The aim of this study was to determine the transfection yields of two commercially available ...

Protein crystallography and biochemical assays reveal that the organometallic drug, [Ru(eta(6)-p-cymene)Cl-2(pta)] (RAPTA-C), preferentially binds to nucleosomal histone proteins in chromatin. To better understand the binding mechanism we report here a mas ...

Heteroatom-doped polyaromatic hydrocarbons (or nanographenes) are promising molecular electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Here, we use density functional theory to investigate the first step of the ORR pathway (chemisorption) for a se ...

A new series of Ni NNN pincer complexes were synthesized and characterized. The main difference among these complexes is the substituents on the side arm amino group(s). No major structural difference was found except for the C-N-C angle of the various sub ...

A new series of higher generation cationic N,N-chelating, ruthenium(II)-ethylene-glycol metallodendrimers from first-, second-, third- and fourth-generation pyridylimine-based poly(propylene) dendrimer scaffolds of the type, DAB-(NH2) (where n = 4, 8, 16 o ...

Many human cancers manifest the capability to circumvent attack by the adaptive immune system. In this work, we identified a component of immune evasion that involves frequent up-regulation of fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP) in solid tumors. FM ...

Direct coupling of alkyl halides with terminal alkynes provides an efficient and streamlined access to alkyl-substituted alkynes, which are important synthetic intermediates, biologically active molecules, and organic materials. However, until now, there ha ...

Based on the clinical success of platinum-based anti-cancer drugs such as cisplatin, carboplatin and oxaliplatin, a variety of other metal-based anti-cancer compounds are being investigated. In particular, a number of ruthenium-based compounds have been id ...

Two pyrazole-based ligands bearing a pyridine moiety, 3-methyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-5-pyrazolone (HLpy), and 3methyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-4-trifluoroacetyl-5-pyrazolone (HQpy,CF3), were prepared and fully characterized in the solid-state and the tautomerism of bot ...

Severe general toxicity issues blight many chemotherapeutics utilized in the treatment of cancers, resulting in the need for more selective drugs able to exert their biological activity at only the required location(s). Toward this aim, we report the devel ...

Clathrochelate complexes of cobalt are known in the oxidation states I, II, and III. Low-valent Co(I) complexes are highly reactive compounds, and there is only limited knowledge about their structures in the solid state. Herein, we describe the crystallog ...

The present invention provides an improved redox couple for electrochemical and optoelectronic devices. The redox couple is based on a complex of a first row transition metal, said complex containing at least one mono-, bi-, or tridentate ligand comprising ...

New ruthenium(II) arene derivatives (arene = p-cymene, benzene, hexamethylbenzene) containing beta-ketoamine ligands L' (HL' in general; in detail, HLph,ph = (4Z)-3-methyl-4-((phenylamino)(phenyl)methylene)-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one, HLnaph,ph = (4Z)-3 ...

The syntheses and the electrochemical spectroscopic properties of a suite of asymmetrical bistridentate cyclometalated Ru(II) complexes bearing terminal triphenylamine (TPA) substituents are reported. These complexes, which contain structural design elemen ...

Densely substituted fused aromatic triazenes can be prepared by [2 + 2 + 2] cyclotrimerization reactions of 1-alkynyl triazenes. The Cp*Ru-catalyzed cyclization proceeds well with both simple alkynyl triazenes and tethered 1-diynyl triazenes. Attractively, ...

A modified correlation for the bundle friction factor in CICC's based on a porous media analogy is presented. The correlation is obtained by the analysis of the collected pressure drop data measured for 23 CICC's. The friction factors predicted by the prop ...

New trans-platinum planar amines (TPAs) represent a family of platinum-based drugs with cytotoxicity equivalent to that of cisplatin, but with negligible cross-resistance. According to the substitution pattern around the metal center, distinct DNA adducts ...
