The faithful bidirectional quantum coherent conversion of microwave (5 GHz) and optical (193.5 THz) quantum states will become essential for future quantum networks. Due to their low transition frequency, qubit states are quickly destroyed at room temperat ...

Cavity quantum electrodynamics offers the possibility of observing and controlling the motion of a few or individual atoms, enabling the realization of various quantum technological tasks such as quantum enhanced metrology or quantum simulation of strongly ...

Quantum computing has made significant progress in recent years, with Google and IBM releasing quantum computers with 72 and 50 qubits, respectively. Google has also achieved quantum supremacy with its 54-qubit device, and IBM has announced the release of ...

As big strides were being made in many science fields in the 1970s and 80s, faster computation for solving problems in molecular biology, semiconductor technology, aeronautics, particle physics, etc., was at the forefront of research. Parallel and super-co ...

Electrostatically confined quantum dots in semiconductors hold the promise to achieve high scalability and reliability levels for practical implementation of solid-state qubits where the electrochemical potentials of each quantum dot can be independently c ...

Quantum computing promises to revolutionize our lives, achieving unprecedented computational powers and unlocking new possibilities in drug discovery, chemical simulations and cryptography. The fundamental unit of computation of a quantum computer is the q ...

This thesis presents a combined experimental and theoretical study of the classical and quantum magnetization dynamics in single magnetic adatoms and molecules, and on the classical and quantum coherent control thereof. First, a detailed description of t ...

We employ the Dirac-Frenkel variational principle and the multiple Davydov ansatz to study time-dependent fluorescence spectra of a driven qubit in the weak to strong qubit-reservoir coupling regimes, where both the Rabi frequency and the spontaneous decay ...

The design of a large-scale quantum computer requires co-optimization of both the quantum bits (qubits) and their control electronics. This work presents the first systematic design of such a controller to simultaneously and accurately manipulate the state ...

Combined microwave-optical pump-probe methods are emerging to study the quantum state of spin qubit centers and the charge dynamics in semiconductors. A major hindrance is the limited bandwidth of microwave irradiation/detection circuitry which can be over ...

Quantum computing (QC) has already entered the industrial landscape and several multinational corporations have initiated their own research efforts. So far, many of these efforts have been focusing on superconducting qubits, whose industrial progress is c ...

Accurate and low-noise generation and amplification of microwave signals are required for the manipulation and readout of quantum bits (qubits). A fault-tolerant quantum computer operates at deep cryogenic temperatures (i.e.,

This disclosure relates to quantum electronic devices for storing qubits. In particular, this disclosure relates to a quantum electronic device comprising a carbon nanosphere adapted to store a qubit represented by an electron spin and a control and readou ...

We describe the performance of a reflective pulse-shaper based on a Micro-ElectroMechanical System (MEMS) linear mirror array. It represents a substantial upgrade of a preceding release [Opt. Lett. 35, 3102 (2010)] as it allows simultaneous piston and tilt ...

Ab initio methods for the electronic structure of molecules have reached a satisfactory accuracy for calculations of static properties but remain too expensive for quantum dynamics calculations. We propose an efficient semiclassical method for evaluating t ...
