In this Letter, we address the question of whether the conformal invariance can be considered as a global symmetry of a theory of fundamental interactions. To describe Nature, this theory must contain a mechanism of spontaneous breaking of the scale symmet ...

The classical Lagrangian of the Standard Model enjoys the symmetry of the full conformal group if the mass of the Higgs boson is put to zero. This is a hint that conformal symmetry may play a fundamental role in the ultimate theory describing nature. The o ...

Fuzzing is the de-facto default technique to discover software flaws, randomly testing programs to discover crashing test cases. Yet, a particular scenario may only care about specific code regions (for, e.g., bug reproduction, patch or regression testing) ...

We give a construction of an efficient one-out-of-many proof system, in which a prover shows that he knows the pre-image for one element in a set, based on the hardness of lattice problems. The construction employs the recent zero-knowledge framework of Ly ...

Quantum electronic circuits where the logic information is processed and stored in single flux quanta promise efficient computation in a performance/power metric, and thus are of utmost interest as possible replacement or enhancement of CMOS. Several elect ...

Conformal Field Theories (CFTs) are crucial for our understanding of Quantum Field Theory (QFT). Because of their powerful symmetry properties, they play the role of signposts in the space of QFTs. Any method that gives us information about their structure ...

The long-wavelength behavior of vibrational modes plays a central role in carrier transport, phonon-assisted optical properties, superconductivity, and thermomechanical and thermoelectric properties of materials. Here, we present general invariance and equ ...

The concept of quasi-symmetry-a perturbatively small deviation from exact symmetry-is introduced and leads to topological materials with strong resilience to perturbations. ...

Conversational interfaces have recently become a ubiquitous element in both the personal sphere by easing access to services, and industrial environments by the automation of services, improved customer support and its corresponding cost savings. However, ...

Modern machine learning tools have shown promise in detecting symptoms of neurological disorders. However, current approaches typically train a unique classifier for each subject. This subject-specific training scheme requires long labeled recordings from ...

While the basic greedy algorithm gives a semi-streaming algorithm with an approximation guarantee of 2 for the unweighted matching problem, it was only recently that Paz and Schwartzman obtained an analogous result for weighted instances. Their approach is ...

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have demonstrated superior performance in learning node representations for various graph inference tasks. However, learning over graph data can raise privacy concerns when nodes represent people or human-related variables that ...

At finite density, the spontaneous breakdown of an internal non-Abelian symmetry dictates, along with gapless modes, modes whose gap is fixed by the algebra and proportional to the chemical potential: the gapped Goldstones. Generically the gap of these sta ...

In this letter, we discuss certain universal predictions of the large charge expansion in conformal field theories with U (1) symmetry, mainly focusing on four-dimensional theories. We show that, while in three dimensions quantum fluctuations are responsib ...

It is shown that a unitary translationally invariant field theory in 1 + 1 dimensions, satisfying isotropic scale invariance, standard assumptions about the spectrum of states and operators, and the requirement that signals propagate with finite velocity, ...

We present a method for the identification and classification of local symmetries in biological images. We aim at obtaining a precise estimate of symmetric junctions in a scale and rotation invariant way. The proposed method is template-free, which allows ...

Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) deployments are migrating from on-premise to cloud settings in order to exploit the elasticity of cloud infrastructure which allows them to adapt to workload variations. However, cloud adaptation comes at the cost of re ...

Hexagonal lattice systems (e.g., triangular, honeycomb, kagome) possess a multidimensional irreducible representation corresponding to d(x2-y2) and d(xy) symmetry. Consequently, various unconventional phases that combine these d-wave representations can oc ...

We address the question whether a scale invariant theory can contain interacting minimal fields of canonical dimensionality. It is known that the answer to this question is negative provided the scale symmetry is respected by the ground state. We present a ...

This thesis explores the application of semiclassical methods in the study of states with large quantum numbers for theories invariant under internal symmetries. In the first part of the thesis, we study zero-temperature superfluids. These provide a gener ...
