We introduce a new numerical algorithm based on semidefinite programming to efficiently compute bounds on operator dimensions, central charges, and OPT coefficients in 4D conformal and N = 1 superconformal field theories. Using our algorithm, we dramatical ...

Quantum field theories with exact but spontaneously broken conformal invariance have an intriguing feature: their vacuum energy (cosmological constant) is equal to zero. Up to now, the only known ultraviolet complete theories where conformal symmetry can b ...

In this paper, a low complexity system for spectral analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) is presented. The main idea of the proposed approach is the implementation of the Fast-Lomb periodogram that is a ubiquitous tool in spectral analysis, using a wav ...

We study O(n)-symmetric two-dimensional conformal field theories (CFTs) for a continuous range of n below two. These CFTs describe the fixed point behavior of self-avoiding loops. There is a pair of known fixed points connected by an RG flow. When n is equ ...

Currently, the best theoretical description of fundamental matter and its gravitational interaction is given by the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics and Einstein's theory of General Relativity (GR). These theories contain a number of seemingly unrel ...

We present a factors 4/3 approximation algorithm for the problem of finding a minimum 2-edge connected spanning subgraph of a given undirected multigraph. The algorithm is based upon a reduction to a restricted class of graphs. In these graphs, the approxi ...

The thesis represents an investigation into Conformal Field Theories (CFT's) in arbitrary dimensions. We propose an innovative method to extract informations about CFT's in a quantitative way. Studying the crossing symmetry of the four point function of sc ...

Control-Flow Hijacking attacks are the dominant attack vector against C/C++ programs. Control-Flow Integrity (CFI) solutions mitigate these attacks on the forward edge, i.e., indirect calls through function pointers and virtual calls. Protecting the backwa ...

We explore the constraining power of OPE associativity in 4D conformal field theory with a continuous global symmetry group. We give a general analysis of crossing symmetry constraints in the 4-point function , where phi is ...

This work puts forward an extended definition of vector fractional Brownian motion (fBm) using a distribution theoretic formulation in the spirit of Gel′fand and Vilenkin's stochastic analysis. We introduce random vector fields that share the statistical i ...

Modern rendering systems are confronted with a dauntingly large and growing set of requirements: in their pursuit of realism, physically based techniques must increasingly account for intricate properties of light, such as its spectral composition or polar ...

Geo-replicated data platforms are the backbone of several large-scale online services. Transactional Causal Consistency (TCC) is an attractive consistency level for building such platforms. TCC avoids many anomalies of eventual consistency, eschews the syn ...

Our main goal in this paper is to set the foundations of a general continuous-domain framework for designing steerable, reversible signal transformations (a.k.a. frames) in multiple dimensions (d ≥ 2). To that end, we introduce a self-reversible, Nth-order ...

A general formalism for the maximal symmetrization and reduction of fields (MSRFs) is proposed and applied to wave functions in solid-state nanostructures. Its primary target is to provide an essential tool for the study and analysis of the electronic and ...

We review the construction of the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) on the two-sphere by two methods, the group-theoretical approach and the geometrical method based on conformal invariance. Then we discuss the discretization of the spherical CWT, obtaini ...

If the mass of the Higgs boson is put to zero, the classical Lagrangian of the Standard Model (SM) becomes conformally invariant (CI). Taking into account quantum non-perturbative QCD effects violating CI leads to electroweak symmetry breaking with the sca ...

Symmetries are omnipresent and play a fundamental role in the description of Nature. Thanks to them, we have at our disposal nontrivial selection rules that dictate how a theory should be constructed. This thesis, which is naturally divided into two parts, ...

This thesis explores two aspects of the renormalization group (RG) in quantum field theory (QFT). In the first part we study the structure of RG flows in general Poincaré-invariant, unitary QFTs, and in particular the irreversibility properties and the rel ...

Conventional motion estimation algorithms extract motion vectors from image sequences based on the image's local-brightness differences in consecutive images. Therefore, motion vectors are extracted along the moving edges formed by moving objects over thei ...

Our goal is to detect and group different kinds of local symmetries in images in a scale- and rotation-invariant way. We propose an efficient wavelet-based method to determine the order of local symmetry at each location. Our algorithm relies on circular h ...
