This paper proposes a novel learning-based approach for achieving exponential stabilization of nonlinear control-affine systems. We leverage the Control Contraction Metrics (CCMs) framework to co-synthesize Neural Contraction Metrics (NCMs) and Neural Netw ...

Turning pass-through network architectures into iterative ones, which use their own output as input, is a well-known approach for boosting performance. In this paper, we argue that such architectures offer an additional benefit: The convergence rate of the ...

Noise in the data is one of the main cause of model performance drop. Denoising is therefore a critical step in most data pipelines. In this paper we propose to fuse the learning abilities of Neural Network with the well-proven efficiency of the wavelet pa ...

In an era where portable electronic devices are indispensable for a wide range of activities, the need for displays that provide both long-lasting battery life and excellent visibility in different lighting conditions is increasingly important. Emissive di ...

Recent work suggests that serial dependence, where perceptual decisions are biased toward previous stimuli, arises from the prior that sensory input is temporally correlated. However, existing studies have mostly used random stimulus sequences that do not ...

This book has been designed for instructors in higher education or adult training who wish to develop a new course or revise an existing one. It adopts a practical, visual, and modular approach based on the principle of constructive alignment. At its heart ...

Introduction: Sensory processing is profoundly regulated by brain neuromodulatory systems. One of the main neuromodulators is serotonin which influences higher cognitive functions, such as different aspects of perceptual processing. Accordingly, malfunctio ...

Despite machine learning models being widely used today, the relationship between a model and its training dataset is not well understood. We explore correlation inference attacks, whether and when a model leaks information about the correlations between t ...

Conscious perception is preceded by long periods of unconscious processing. These periods are crucial for analyzing temporal information and for solving the many ill-posed problems of vision. An important question is what starts and ends these windows and ...

As an 'early alerting' sense, one of the primary tasks for the human visual system is to recognize distant objects. In the specific context of facial identification, this ecologically important task has received surprisingly little attention. Most studies ...

Traditionally, studies in schizophrenia research employ a single experimental paradigm. The results typically demonstrate a significant difference between patients and controls. Subsequent studies aim to describe the underlying abnormal mechanism at the ge ...

In this paper, we present EdgeFace - a lightweight and efficient face recognition network inspired by the hybrid architecture of EdgeNeXt. By effectively combining the strengths of both CNN and Transformer models, and a low rank linear layer, EdgeFace achi ...

Different types of mental rotation tests have been used extensively in psychology to understand human visual reasoning and perception. Understanding what an object or visual scene would look like from another viewpoint is a challenging problem that is made ...

Neuroprostheses have been used clinically for decades, to help restore or preserve brain functions, when pharmaceutical treatments are inefficient. Although great progress in the field has been made over the years to interface with the nervous system, surf ...

Knowing where objects are relative to us implies knowing where we are relative to the external world. Here, we investigated whether space perception can be influenced by an experimentally induced change in perceived self-location. To dissociate real and ap ...

Electrical stimulation of the nervous system has emerged as a promising assistive technology in case of many injuries and illnesses across various parts of the nervous system. In particular, the invasive neuromodulation of the peripheral nervous system see ...

How does the visual system represent continuity in the constantly changing visual input? A recent proposal is that vision is serially dependent: Stimuli seen a moment ago influence what we perceive in the present. In line with this, recent frameworks sugge ...

Out-of-body experiences (OBEs) are characterized by the subjective feeling of being located outside one's physical body and perceiving one's own body from an elevated perspective looking downwards. OBEs have been correlated with abnormal integration of bod ...

Topographical disorientation refers to the selective inability to orient oneself in familiar surroundings. However, to date its neural correlates remain poorly understood. Here we use quantitative lesion analysis and a lesion network mapping approach in or ...

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is reshaping manufacturing, industrial processes, and infrastructure management. By fostering new levels of automation, efficiency, and predictive maintenance, IIoT is transforming traditional industries into intell ...
