Extreme flood simulation with synthetic extreme precipitation events raises unavoidable questions about the choice of initial conditions. State-of-the-art extreme flood estimation frameworks propose to address these questions with the help of semicontinuou ...

Resistive Random Access Memory (RRAM)-based FPGAs are predicted to outperform conventional FPGAs architectures in area, delay and power over a wide range of voltage operations, allowing novel energy-quality trade-offs for reconfigurable computing. The oppo ...

This multidisciplinary research work aims to investigate the optimized information extraction from signals or data volumes and to develop tailored hardware implementations that trade-off the complexity of data acquisition with that of data processing, conc ...

Nowadays, the ubiquity of smart appliances in our everyday lives is increasingly strengthening the links between humans and machines. Beyond making our lives easier and more convenient, smart devices are now playing an important role in personalized health ...

We investigate the minus-sign problem that afflicts quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) simulations of frustrated quantum spin systems, focusing on spin S = 1/2, two spatial dimensions, and the extended Shastry-Sutherland model. We show that formulating the Hamilton ...

This paper presents a single-chip trinocular disparity estimation processor, capable of computing in real-time up to 2048×1080 resolution depth maps at 32fps with up to 256-pixel disparity range using two/three CMOS camera sensors. The most important featu ...

In most robotic and biomedical applications, the interest for real-time embedded systems with tactile ability has been growing. For example in prosthetics, a dedicated portable system is needed for developing wearable devices. The main challenges for such ...

Virtual memory (VM) is a crucial abstraction in modern computer systems at any scale, from handheld devices to datacenters. VM provides programmers the illusion of an always sufficiently large and linear memory, making programming easier. Although the core ...

In practice, some differences are usually observed between computer simulation and experimental results of a chaotic circuit. In this paper, it is tried to obtain computer simulation results having more correlation with those obtained in practice by using ...

Modern system-on-chips are evolving towards complex and heterogeneous platforms with general-purpose processors coupled with massively parallel manycore accelerator fabrics (e.g. embedded GPUs). Platform developers are looking for efficient full-system sim ...

The transient behavior of hydroelectric power plants is of high interest for ensuring stability of islanded electrical power networks. Therefore, it is suitable to determine and validate the set of parameters of a turbine speed governor using a realistic s ...
