Technology scaling has progressed to enable integrated circuits with extremely high density enabling systems of tremendous complexity with manageable power consumption. With the continuation of Moore's law for many years, electronic chips have been able to ...

In multiwinding transformers, different geometry of the individual windings leads to unbalanced leakage flux paths. The unbalance affects the behavior of the power electronic converters, where these transformers are used. This paper proposes an approach to ...

Conformable bioelectronic systems are promising tools that may aid the understanding of diseases, alleviate pathological symptoms such as chronic pain, heart arrhythmia, and dysfunctions, and assist in reversing conditions such as deafness, blindness, and ...

In this work, we demonstrate a new thermal management approach for direct cooling of GaN-on-Si power integrated circuits (ICs), in which the Si substrate functions as a microfluidic heat sink, turning Si into a cost-effective, high thermal performance subs ...

Integration of silicon nanowires (Si NWs) in three-dimensional (3D) devices including integrated circuits (ICs) and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) leads to enhanced functionality and performance in diverse applications. The immediate challenge to th ...

Renewable energy supply and energy storage in a closed materials cycle are the urgent global challenges of the 21st century. Carbon dioxide (CO2) hydrogenation over catalysts is a method to produce synthetic fuels from renewable energy in a CO2 neutral cyc ...

Nowadays electric power systems are subject to continuous changes and the needs in the power generation and delivery service are constantly increasing, with a higher complexity of a progressively more distributed network. Because the impact of a failure ca ...

Substantial downscaling of the feature size in current CMOS technology has confronted digital designers with serious challenges including short channel effect and high amount of leakage power. To address these problems, emerging nano-devices, e.g., Silicon ...

Logic synthesis is a key component of digital design and modern EDA tools; it is thus an essential instrument for the design of leading-edge chips and to push the limits of their performance. In the last decades, the electronic circuits community has evolv ...

The development of modern and future power systems is associated with the definition of new approaches for their simulation, control, and protection. To give an example, the increasing connection of massive renewable energy conversion systems is justifying ...

Silicon transistor scaling is approaching its end and a transition to novel materials and device concepts is more than ever essential. High-mobility compound semiconductors are considered promising candidates to replace silicon, targeting low-power logic a ...

A method for manufacturing a hybrid soft-rigid electromechanical device comprising the steps of i) placing electronic components on a temporary substrate; ii) encapsulating said electronic components within a soft curable material and curing said soft cura ...

With the omnipresence of embedded processing in all forms of electronics today, there is a strong trend towards wireless, battery-powered, portable embedded systems which have to operate under stringent energy constraints. Consequently, low power consumpti ...

This paper presents a novel approach for the fabrication of miniaturized and fully printed metal-oxide (MOX) gas sensors on a polyimide (PI) substrate by using digital manufacturing of the functional layers, namely aerosol jet and inkjet printing technolog ...

Electronics today permeate our life and existence. It has become nearly impossible to evade any dependence on electronic devices that surround us every day - computers, phones, televisions. But also other objects become increasingly "smart" - watches, cars ...

The growth of information technology has been sustained by the miniaturization of Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) Field-Effect Transistors (FETs), with the number of devices per unit area constantly increasing, as exemplified by Mooreâ s la ...

Embedded memory remains a major bottleneck in current integrated circuit design in terms of silicon area, power dissipation, and performance; however, static random access memories (SRAMs) are almost exclusively supplied by a small number of vendors throug ...
