Chemical engineering as a skilled profession depends on the competencies of the individuals practicing it. Formal teaching of chemical engineering at universities only started in the 19th century. Informally, the subject has been in existence at least sinc ...

Robot-mediated learning activities are often designed as collaborative exercises where children work together to achieve the activity objectives. Although miscommunications and misunderstandings occur frequently, humans, unlike robots, are very good at ove ...

Despite the increasing popularity of massive open online courses (MOOCs), many suffer from high dropout and low success rates. Early prediction of student success for targeted intervention is therefore essential to ensure no student is left behind in a cou ...

Computational thinking (CT) skills are becoming increasingly relevant for future professionals across all domains, beyond computer science (CS). As such, an increasing number of bachelor and masters programs outside of the computer science discipline integ ...

Algorithms deployed in education can shape the learning experience and success of a student. It is therefore important to understand whether and how such algorithms might create inequalities or amplify existing biases. In this paper, we analyze the fairnes ...

Whilst, in many countries, the sudden enforced transfer to large-scale distance learning in state schools as a result of COVID_19 lockdown measures caused turmoil, it also provided an unprecedented opportunity to understand more about key factors associate ...

The spectral sensitivity of the average human eye in photopic conditions is represented by the photopic luminosity function V (λ). The CIE has established the photopic luminosity functions for the 2o and 10o visual fields for a standard observer applicable ...
