Diazo compounds of the type R1R2CN2 are widely used in organometallic catalysis and synthetic chemistry. Stable diazoolefins, R1R2C=CN2, have only been isolated recently. Diazoolefins undergo cycloaddition reactions and tend to be carbon donors when used a ...

A high-entropy liquid metal alloy (Ga-Fe-Zn-Sn-Bi-Ni) is developed to address the multi-step complexity of green ammonia electrosynthesis from nitrate. Guided by molecular dynamics, design of experiments, and density functional theory, this alloy exploits ...

The methanol-to-olefins (MTO) process on zeolite-based catalysts enables the production of olefins from green methanol. Selectivity control requires an understanding of the nature and evolution of hydrocarbon species that act as catalytically active center ...

Iron-exchanged zeolites are industrial heterogeneous catalysts deployed to remediate anthropogenic emissions of both nitrous oxide (N2O) and nitrogen oxides (NOx = NO + NO2). Despite the extensive scientific attention received, limited knowledge is availab ...

High-entropy alloys (HEAs), containing several metallic elements in near-equimolar proportions, have long been of interest for their unique mechanical properties. More recently, they have emerged as a promising platform for the development of novel heterog ...

A catalyst possessing a broad substrate scope, in terms of both turnover and enantioselectivity, is sometimes called "general". Despite their great utility in asymmetric synthesis, truly general catalysts are difficult or expensive to discover via traditio ...

In this manuscript, the improvement of solar disinfection (SODIS) for water treatment through the photo-Fenton reaction using iron replacements, namely calcined herbs and spices (thyme, cumin, cinnamon, ginger, and cocoa), naturally containing high content ...

Supported Co-based catalysts exhibit promising catalytic activities in the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) during alkaline water electrolysis. Surface functionalization of the support modulates the dispersion of the catalysts and their interaction with the ...

Within the field of lignin biorefining, significant research effort has been dedicated to the advancement of catalytic methods for lignocellulose depolymerization. However, another key challenge in lignin valorization is the conversion of the obtained mono ...

While solar-to-fuel catalysis requires the careful transfer of electrons, there are still challenges understanding how electron spin contributes to reactivity. Here, authors employ chiral fused thiadiazole-helicenes to control spin polarization in oxygen e ...

Integrated methanol synthesis and methanol-to-olefins systems are considered attractive and promising technologies to produce light olefins from syngas derived from biomass feedstock. In this study, a flowsheet model of a proposed system was developed and ...

Frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) chemistry has gained significant attention in the past decade as the main group hydrogenation catalysts. The majority of the reported FLP catalysts utilize either boron-containing Lewis acids (LAs) or alternatively isolobal and ...

Among different polymers nanostructured cross-linked aromatics have the greatest potential as catalytic supports due to their exceptional thermal and chemical stability and preservation of the active phase morphology. This work studies the ability of hyper ...

Cu-Al spinet oxide is a highly active catalyst for CO2 conversion to CO. However, it suffers from low surface area. By depositing a silica layer, we protected the catalyst surface and preserved the Cu2+ ions during the calcination process. These ions form ...

The creation of new chiral ligands capable of providing high stereocontrol in metal-catalyzed reactions is crucial in modern organic synthesis. The production of bioactive molecules as single enantiomers is increasingly required, and asymmetric catalysis w ...

Renewable energy supply and energy storage in a closed materials cycle are the urgent global challenges of the 21st century. Carbon dioxide (CO2) hydrogenation over catalysts is a method to produce synthetic fuels from renewable energy in a CO2 neutral cyc ...

Metal nanoparticles (NPs) are usually stabilized by a capping agent, a surfactant, or a support material, to maintain their integrity. However, these strategies can impact their intrinsic catalytic activity. Here, we demonstrate that the in-situ formation ...

Colloidally synthesised nanocrystals (NCs) are increasingly utilised as catalysts to drive both thermal and electrocatalytic reactions. Their well-defined size and shape, controlled by organic ligands, are ideal to identify the parameters relevant to the a ...

The increasing urgency to make chemical processes more environmentally friendly while continuing to derive the chemicals required for modern society from renewable resources requires the development of a forthcoming generation of synthetic processes and th ...
