Radioactive iodine-129 (I-129) and technetium-99 (Tc-9(9)) pose a risk to groundwater due to their long half-lives, toxicity, and high environmental mobility. Based on literature reviewed in Moore et al. (2019) and Pearce et aL (2019), natural and engineer ...

Pore topology and chemistry play crucial roles in the adsorption characteristics of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). To deepen our understanding of the interactions between MOFs and CO2 during this process, we systematically investigate the adsorption prop ...

We employ a synergistic material and process development strategy to improve the performance of a single-cycle vacuum pressure swing adsorption (VPSA) process for the hydrogen purification and the CO2 separation from reforming-based hydrogen synthesis. Bas ...

This work represents a pioneering effort in utilizing continuous flow methods for the post-synthetic modification of a nanoporous metal-organic framework (Fe-BTC or MIL-100(Fe)) with short-chain redox-active oligomers (poly-p-phenylenediamine, PpPDA). The ...

There is an urgent need for inexpensive, functional materials that can capture and release CO2 under industrial conditions. In this context, MgO is a highly promising, earth-abundant CO2 sorbent. However, despite its favorable carbonation thermodynamics an ...

Artificial photosynthesis is considered to be a promising approach for energy storage and global warming mitigation. However, the suboptimal selectivity of products and the low conversion efficiency of CO2 persist as challenges, driving continuous interest ...

Herein, novel carbons that, owing to a high density of micropores (up to 79%) and N-content (up to 14.9%), offering exciting potential for post-combustion CO2 capture are reported. Given that little is known about how starting materials impact the structur ...

Growing polymers inside porous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can allow incoming guests to access the backbone of otherwise non-porous polymers, boosting the number and/or strength of available adsorption sites inside the porous support. In the present wo ...

We introduce a new approach to defect engineering in Zr-based metal-organic frameworks (Zr-MOFs), aiming to reduce Zr site valency while preserving high node connectivity. Using a rapid heat treatment (RHT) in humid air, oxygen vacancies (O-vacancies) were ...

With the fast-growing accumulation of electronic waste and rising demand for rare metals, it is compelling to develop technologies that can promotionally recover targeted metals, like gold, from waste, a process referred to as urban mining. Thus, there is ...

The flexibility of the ZIF-8 aperture, which inhibits a molecular cutoff of 3.4 angstrom, can be reduced by rapid heat treatment to obtain CO2-selective membranes. However, the early stages of the structural, morphological, and chemical changes responsible ...

A chromium(II)-based metal-organic framework Cr-3(Cr4Cl)(3)(BTT)(8) (Cr-BTT; BTT3 = 1,3,5-benzenetristetrazolate), featuring coordinatively unsaturated, redox-active Cr2+ cation sites, was synthesized and investigated for potential applications in H-2 ...

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) offer great promise in a variety of gas- and liquid-phase separations. However, the excellent performance on the lab scale hardly translates into pilot- or industrial-scale applications due to the microcrystalline nature of ...

The quest for developing materials that provide a perfect trade-off between factors such as enzyme-like response, stability, and low cost has been a long-standing challenge in the field of biosensing. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their composites ha ...

MOFs are a class of porous crystalline materials whose unique properties have led to applicability in several fields ranging from gas adsorption to drug delivery. Despite their high potential, MOFs are usually found as fine powders, a property that can lim ...

In this work, a detailed study is conducted to understand how ligand substitution influences the CO, and N-2 adsorption properties of two highly crystalline sodalite metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) known as Cu-BTT (BTT-3 = 1,3,5-benzenetristetrazolate) and ...

Herein we present a detailed study of the hydrogen adsorption properties of Cu‐BTTri, a robust crystalline metal–organic framework containing open metal‐coordination sites. Diffraction techniques, carried out on the activated framework, reveal a structure ...

Using azolium-based ligands for the construction of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is a viable strategy to immobilize catalytically active N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) or NHC-derived species inside MOF pores. Thus, in the present work, a novel copper MOF ...

Herein, data acquisition protocols are explored and data reduction protocols are improved using PDFgetX3 to obtain reliable data for atomic pair distribution function (PDF) analysis from a laboratory‐based Mo K α X‐ray source. A variable counting scheme is ...

The design of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) having large pore sizes and volumes often requires the use of complex organic ligands, currently synthesized using costly and time-consuming palladium-catalyzed coupling chemistry. Thus, in the present work, a ...
