Detailed understanding of the poisoning mechanism in Diesel oxidation catalysts (DOCs) is the key to prevent long term catalyst deterioration in vehicles. The present work studies artificial phosphorus (P) poisoning methods applied to a commercial DOC. Cor ...

Ru/CNF catalysts of different Ru nanoparticle (NP) sizes (0.9-2.7 nm) were assessed for their performance in continuous supercritical water gasification (SCWG) of glycerol. A structure sensitivity of Ru was demonstrated, with high initial turnover frequenc ...

Ni/Al2O3 is an active catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation to both CH4 and CO. By doping with Ga, we succeeded in shifting the selectivity of these catalysts almost completely toward CO. In-situ IR spectroscopy studies showed that the catalyst activity is direc ...

The ability to study in situ the formation and consumption of Pd hydrides (PdH) in liquid environments is a significant challenge hampering a deeper understanding of catalyzed liquid-phase hydrogenation reactions. Here, using quick scanning X-ray absorptio ...

Understanding the real aging of Diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) is key to predict their useful lifetime. This work comprises a detailed study of a commercial DOC in its unused state and after use in vehicle for 288,000 km. The activity of the samples was ...

Under periodic lean/rich operation generated by repeated O2 pulses (O2-dithering), the abatement of CH4 and NO is enhanced compared to static operation. However, it is not well understood how the dithering parameters (pulse amplitude and frequency) affect ...

Perovskite-derived Ni catalysts offer the remarkable benefit of redox stability that allows their regeneration after deactivation through poisoning or Ni particle growth. Here, the catalytic activity of LaFe0.8Ni0.2O3 towards CO2 methanation was improved b ...

Natural gas is a suitable alternative to gasoline and diesel fuels to decrease the carbon footprint of the mobility and energy sectors. Unburnt CH4 is typically removed from the exhaust using palladium-based catalysts, which suffer from thermal deactivatio ...

Perovskite derived Ni catalysts offer the remarkable benefit of regeneration after catalyst poisoning or Ni particle growth through the reversible segregation of Ni from the perovskite-type oxide host. Although this property allows for repeated catalyst re ...

The reverse water gas shift reaction is considered to be a highly attractive catalytic route for CO2 recycling in a future sustainable economy. Copperbased catalysts are commonly used for this reaction due to their high activity and selectivity. However, t ...

Real-world vanadium-based catalysts for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with NH3 are occasionally exposed to high temperatures, which can induce catalyst aging. In this work, a 2.0 wt% V2O5/WO3-TiO2 catalyst based on commercial WO3-TiO2 was l ...

The role of Lewis and Bronsted acid sites and their potential synergy remains ambiguous for the production of polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers (OME), which are suitable as a Diesel substitute. Here, this synergistic effect was investigated by using a serie ...

Synthesis gas production through the catalytic reverse water-gas shift (RWGS) reaction is an attractive option for the conversion of CO2 to fuels. Many metal-based catalysts have been introduced for this reaction in order to provide high activity, CO selec ...

The effect of an alumina-based binder on the structure of a commercial Fe-ZSM-5 catalyst has been investigated. Several ex-situ characterization techniques were used to show that the binder in the catalyst formulation allows obtaining a material that posse ...

Cu-Al spinet oxide is a highly active catalyst for CO2 conversion to CO. However, it suffers from low surface area. By depositing a silica layer, we protected the catalyst surface and preserved the Cu2+ ions during the calcination process. These ions form ...

A method to assess the impact of deactivation phenomena on the global performance of a catalytic reactor was developed. The methodology is applied here to the case of CO methanation, where the catalyst is subject to deactivation by coking. This method can ...

Polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers (OME) produced from methanol are considered as potential substitutes of Diesel fuel. Emissions of formaldehyde and other components have been observed, particularly under cold-start conditions in engine test-bench experimen ...

Methane emissions from the exhaust gas of stoichiometric engines can be efficiently controlled by means of three-way catalysts. In this work, we show how the activity of a fully formulated commercial three-way catalyst can be significantly enhanced by peri ...

Direct methanation of biogas converts the CO2 in raw-biogas to methane, enabling higher methane yield and an elelctricity storage option via Power-to-Gas. As the thermodynamic equilibrium limits the methane yield, unreacted hydrogen has to be removed and r ...
