The influence of hydrothermal aging on the structural and catalytic properties of two commercial Fe-exchanged zeolite catalysts (Fe-FER and Fe-ZSM-5) in the extruded form employed for the removal of N2O from the exhaust of nitric acid production plants has ...

Infrared (IR) spectroscopy and catalysis represent two of the most practically relevant topics in chemistry, but they are normally taught in separate contexts at the undergraduate level. Although IR spectroscopy is introduced to students as a tool for orga ...

The effect of water on the NH3-assisted selective catalytic reduction of NOx (NH3-SCR) has been largely neglected, despite the inevitable presence of water vapor in real emissions produced by fuel combustion. In this work, we investigated the role of water ...

Titania-supported vanadia (VOx/TiO2) catalysts exhibit outstanding catalytic in a number of selective oxidation and reduction processes. In spite of numerous investigations, the nature of redox transformations of vanadium and titanium involved in various c ...

The methanol-to-olefins (MTO) process on zeolite-based catalysts enables the production of olefins from green methanol. Selectivity control requires an understanding of the nature and evolution of hydrocarbon species that act as catalytically active center ...

CO2 catalytic hydrogenation to CO will likely be an important part of CO2 mitigation and valorization processes. Recently, we have developed materials containing surface-formed Cu-Al spinel that act as active and stable catalysts for this reaction. Here, t ...

Methane abatement pathways in Pd/Rh three-way catalysts have been investigated in three scales ranging from a vehicle application size catalyst, a model gas reactor and the catalyst in powder form. A special test rig was designed for the investigation of v ...

Ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (APXPS) is a powerful tool to characterize the surface structure of heterogeneous catalysts in situ. In order to improve the time resolution and the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of photoemission spectra, we ...

The conversion of carbon dioxide to value-added products using renewable electricity would potentially help to address current climate concerns. The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to propylene, a critical feedstock, requires multiple C-C coupl ...

We report the increased level of mechanistic information that Raman spectroscopy can provide when combined with modulated excitation experimentation. A V2O5/TiO2 catalyst for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO, was subjected to periodic NH3 puls ...

Catalysts consisting of highly dispersed copper on a mesoporous ZrO2 support were synthesised via a one-pot sol-gel synthesis and were tested for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx by NH3. The copper dispersion was investigated by XRD and TEM, which ...

Tailoring the interfacial sites between metals and metal oxides can be an essential tool in designing heterogeneous catalysts. These interfacial sites play a vital role in many renewable applications, for instance, catalytic CO2 reduction. Postsynthesis de ...

Catalytic hydrothermal gasification (cHTG) is a sustainable and promising route to convert wet biomass into renewable methane, but the catalyst is deactivated by small amounts of soluble sulfate stemming from the biomass feedstock. Under hydrothermal condi ...

The heterogeneous speciation of ion-exchanged zeolites hinders a rational understanding of their reactivity. This is particularly the case for Fecontaining zeolites that are widely used in both the activation and decomposition of N 2 O. Herein, we explored ...

Co-impregnation of vanadia and tungsta on titania produced highly active catalysts for the reduction of nitrogen oxides with ammonia but showed aging tendencies at temperatures around 600 degrees C. In order to preserve their low temperature activity after ...

Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) is a highly poisonous gas that can form through the reaction between formaldehyde and ammonia (NH3) in the exhaust. While this detrimental side reaction has been the subject of recent catalytic studies under selective catalytic reduc ...

The perovskite-type mixed oxide La0.3Sr0.55Ti0.95Ni0.05O3-delta (LSTN) is demonstrated to exhibit the remarkable property of structural regeneration, where Ni can be reversibly exsoluted from the host perovskite lattice resulting in a regenerable Ni cataly ...

Zeolite-supported metal catalysts are widely employed in a number of chemical processes, and the stability of the catalytically active species is one of the most critical factors determining the reaction performance. A good example is the Pd/zeolite cataly ...

Supported ruthenium was used in the liquid phase catalytic transfer hydrogenation of furfural. To improve the stability of Ru against leaching, phosphorous was introduced on a Ru/Al2O3 based catalyst upon impregnation with ammonium hypophosphite followed b ...

Log wood burning is a significant source of volatile organic compounds including aromatic hydrocarbons (ArHC). ArHC are harmful, are reactive in the ambient atmosphere, and are important secondary organic aerosol (SOA) precursors. Consequently, SOA represe ...
