Amides are ubiquitous molecules in nature and in synthetic chemistry. Here we report a convenient and efficient method to synthesize N-aryl amides via amidation of esters with nitroarenes. In the presence of manganese metal, this amidation proceeded smooth ...

Selective catalytic synthesis of Z-olefins has been challenging. Here we describe a method to produce 1,2-disubstituted olefins in high Z selectivity via reductive cross-coupling of alkyl halides with terminal arylalkynes. The method employs inexpensive an ...

Four new coordination complexes with silver(I) ions and nitrogenous aromatic heterocyclic carboxylic ligands, namely [AB(4)(Pac)(Phen)(4)]center dot 8H(2)O (1), {[AB(4)(Pztc)(bPe)(3)] center dot 5H(2)O}(n) (2), [Ag-4(Hmptc)(2)(4,4'-bPY)(3)] center dot 4.5H ...

Iron(III) bisoxazolinylphenylamido (bopa) pincer complexes are efficient precatalysts for the cross-coupling of nonactivated primary and secondary alkyl halides with phenyl Grignard reagents. The reactions proceed at room temperature in moderate to excelle ...

Iron catalysis has been developed for the intermolecular 1,2-addition of perfluoroalkyl iodides to alkynes and alkenes. The catalysis has a wide substrate scope and high functional-group tolerance. A variety of perfluoroalkyl iodides including CF3I can be ...

(Hetero)Aryl amines, an important class of organic molecules in medicinal chemistry, are most commonly synthesized from anilines, which are in turn synthesized by hydrogenation of nitroarenes. Amine synthesis directly from nitroarenes is attractive due to ...

Esters are one of the most common functional groups in natural and synthetic products, and the one-step conversion of the ester group into other functional groups is an attractive strategy in organic synthesis. Direct amidation of esters is particularly ap ...

A simple protocol for iron-catalyzed cross-coupling of nonactivated secondary alkyl bromides and iodides with alkynyl Grignard reagents at room temperature has been developed. A wide range of secondary alkyl halides and terminal alkynes are tolerated to af ...

Amides are an important class of organic compounds, which have widespread industrial applications. Transamidation of amides is a convenient method to generate new amides from existing ones. Tertiary amides, however, are challenging substrates for transamid ...

Two new complexes based on pyridine-2,3,5,6-tetracarboxylic acid(H(4)pdtc) as ligand, {[Co-2(pdtc)(H2O)(4)]center dot H2O}(n) (1) and {Mn-2(pdtc)(H2O)(4)}(n) (2), have been obtained by hydrothermal syntheses and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, X-r ...

The stereoselective synthesis of trisubstituted alkenes is challenging. Here, we show that an iron-catalyzed anti-selective carbozincation of terminal alkynes can be combined with a base-metal-catalyzed cross coupling to prepare trisubstituted alkenes in a ...

Aminocarbonylation of aryl halides is one of the most useful methods in amide synthesis, but nitroarenes have not been used as a nitrogen source in this method even though they are more economical and accessible than anilines. Reported here is the developm ...

Transmidation is an attractive method for amide synthesis. However, transamidation of secondary amides is challenging. Here, we describe a reductive transamidation method that employs readily available nitro(hetero)arenes as the nitrogen sources, zinc or m ...
