In the present work, we investigate the degradation of recalcitrant industrial textile dye (Reactive green 12) in aqueous solution by TiO2 impregnated polyester at room temperature. The TiO2 loading on polyester was optimized using different polyester pret ...

Evidence is presented for radio-frequency plasma pretreatment enhancing the amount and adhesion of TiO2 sputtered on polyester (PES) and on polyethylene (PE) films. Pretreatment is necessary to attain a suitable TiO2 loading leading to an acceptable Escher ...

Co-sputtered TiO2-Cu polyester (TiO2-Cu-PES) under actinic light induced bacterial reduction of E. coli in the presence of O2 (air) and under anaerobic conditions. The bacterial inactivation/oxidation proceeds in the absence of O2 (air) probably due to the ...

Recently, compact uniform and adhesive films of Ag and Cu have been prepared by DC-magnetron sputtering (DC), pulsed DC magnetron sputtering (DCP) and high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HIPIMS). This study reports the HIPIMS deposition for Ag and Cu ...

In this study, the photoreactivation and the modification of dark repair of E. coli in a simulated secondary effluent were investigated after initial irradiation under different conditions. The simulated solar exposure of the secondary wastewater was follo ...

In this study, silver/copper (Ag/Cu)-coated catheters were investigated for their efficacy in preventing methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection in vitro and in vivo. Ag and Cu were sputtered (67/33% atomic ratio) on polyurethane cathe ...

Polyethylene-TiO2 (from now on PE-TiO2) transparent, non-scattering sputtered films have been found effective in the discoloration of methylene blue (MB) under low intensity solar simulated light. By Fourier transform attenuated infrared spectroscopy (ATR- ...

Graphitic carbon nitride, g-C3N4, have been receiving intense attention the last decades due to its unique physicochemical properties, and even more importantly, due to the visible light driven photoreactivity. Hence, the design and synthesis of novel phot ...

In the present work, we provide evidence for visible light irradiation of the Au/TiO2 nanoparticles' surface plasmon resonance band (SPR) leading to electron injection from the Au nanoparticles to the conduction band of TiO2. The Au/TiO2 SPR band is shown ...

In recent years organic–inorganic hybrid halide perovskites nanocrystals have made a remarkable impact in display color converting layer application. However, lead toxicity and stability issues always pose arduous challenges. In this regard, the incorporat ...

Advanced Oxidation Processes and in particular photo-Fenton, represent promising strategies of pathogen inactivation in wastewater effluents. Nevertheless, its full potential is not yet unlocked, as the efficacy of photo-Fenton against viruses has not been ...

Cu-polyester (Cu-PES) was sputtered by high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HIPIMS) and by low energy direct current magnetron sputtering (DCMS). The total amount and distribution of the Ar+, Cu+ and Cu2+ ions were determined as well as the bacterial i ...

This study reports the colloidal preparation FeOx, TiO2 and FeOx-TiO2 grafted on polyethylene (PE) films leading to bacterial inactivation. A fast bacterial inactivation was attained by the FeOx-TiO2 compared to the FeOx-PE film due to the interfacial char ...

This study addresses the preparation of uniform, adhesive and robust thin Cu-polyethylene films (PE-CuOx) by direct current magnetron sputtering (DCMS). Cu-coatings of 25 nm sputtered with 60W deposited 0.16% weight Cu/weight PE leading to the fastest bact ...

This review presents an update describing binary and ternary semiconductors involving interfacial charge transfer (IFCT) in composites made up by TiO2, CuO, Ag2O and Fe2O3 used in microbial disinfection (bacteria and viruses). The disinfection mechanism, k ...

The contamination of air and water is one of the major concerns towards the development of a sustainable world in the 21st century. In this context many efforts are devoted to the design of photocatalytic paints able to degrade chemical and biological impu ...

This work aims to study the structural, optical, and photocatalytic properties of ZrO2 nanotubes (NTs) that have been synthesized using the electrochemical anodization method. The structural and morphological characteristics of unannealed and annealed (400 ...

In the present study, we use commercial digitally printed ceramic tiles, functionnalized by AgNPs doped micro–TiO2, to investigate the mechanism of Ag in the continouos photocatalytic antibacterial activity. The novelty of the research lies in the attempt ...

This work focuses on the development of a facile and scalable wet milling method followed by heat treatment to prepare fluorinated and/or N-doped TiO2 nanopowders with improved photocatalytic properties under visible light. The structural and electronic pr ...

In this manuscript, we studied the effect of additive manufacturing pretreatment on bacterial adhesion and inactivation on copper-based interfaces. Sandblasting, mirror polishing and Surface Mechanical Attrition Treatment (SMAT) at high or low energies hav ...
