A hitherto unknown class of C4-symmetric Caryl Cβ (C3, C8, C13, C18) axially chiral porphyrins has been synthesized and the application of their iridium (Ir) complexes in catalytic asymmetric C(sp3) H functionalization is documented. Cyclotetramerization o ...

The reaction of secondary homopropargylamines, isocyanides, and water in the presence of a catalytic amount of silver acetate and subsequent purification by chromatography on silica gel afforded substituted proline amides in good to excellent yields. Prima ...

A copper-catalyzed three-component reaction of alkenes, alkylnitriles, and water affords gamma-butyrolactones in good yields. The domino process involves an unprecedented hydroxy-cyanoalkylation of alkenes and subsequent lactonization with the creation of ...

Tandem reactions for the efficient synthesis of multifunctionalized 1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyridines, 2,3-dihydropyridin-4(1H)-ones, and pyridine derivatives have been developed and reaction mechanisms have been investigated. Synthetic cascades are initiated by ...

Alkene difunctionalization featuring an intramolecular carbometallation step has been developed into a powerful transformation in organic synthesis. The 5-exo-trig carbometallation is in general highly favored over the alternative 6-endo-trig cyclization. ...

Deviant behavior: In a deviation from “normal” reactivity, isocyanides underwent co-trimerization with carboxylic acids in the presence of ZnBr2 to smoothly provide oxazoles (see scheme). The reaction is thought to occur by initial nucleophilic addition of ...

Merge and divert. (±)-goniomitine was synthesized featuring two key steps: a) fragment coupling to functionalized cyclopentene by a novel palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative vinylation reaction and b) an unprecedented one-pot integrated oxidation/reduction ...

In the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)(2) and XantPhos, the three-component reaction of ynones, imines, and aryl iodides affords fully substituted alkylidene-furan-3(2H)-ones via a sequence of the Mannich reaction followed by chemo- and regiosele ...

The Wacker oxidation is a powerful synthetic method widely employed for the transformation of monosubstituted alkenes into methyl ketones. Its substrate scope has progressively expanded to include internal disubstituted and, more recently, gem‐disubstitute ...

A seven-step enantioselective total synthesis of (-)-terengganensine A, a complex heptacyclic monoterpene indole alkaloid, was accomplished. Key steps included: a) Noyori's catalytic enantioselective transfer hydrogenation of the iminium salt to set up the ...

Chiral morpholinone is an important building block in organic synthesis and a pharmacophore in medicinal chemistry. However, catalytic enantioselective methods for the construction of this N,O-heterocycle remain scarce. We report herein a chiral phosphoric ...

The development of concise, sustainable, and cost-effective synthesis of aryltetralin lignans, bearing either a fused lactone or cyclic ether, is of significant medicinal importance. Reported is that in the presence of Fukuzumi's acridinium salt under blue ...

Enantioselective total syntheses of title natural products from a common cyclohexenone derivative (S)-18 were reported. Ozonolysis of (S)-18 afforded a stable diketo ester (R)-17 that was subsequently converted to two skeletally different natural products, ...

Transition-metal-catalyzed [4+2] heteroannulation of alpha,beta-unsaturated oximes and their derivatives with alkynes has been developed into a powerful strategy for the synthesis of pyridines. It nevertheless lacks regioselectivity when unsymmetrically su ...

The small Stokes shift and weak emission in the solid state are two main shortcomings associated with the boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) family of dyes. This study presents the design, synthesis and luminescent properties of boron difluoro complexes of 2-ar ...

A copper-promoted oxyalkylation of alkenes with alkylnitriles has been developed. The protocol provides rapid access to phthalides (g-lactones) or isochromanones (d-lactones) via the formation of a C(sp3)C(sp3) and a C(sp3)O bond with the generation of up ...

The reactivity of stable tertiary enamides in nucleophilic addition reaction with various in-situ generated imines was explored. Under very mild conditions, formyl-bearing tertiary enamides reacted with both aromatic and aliphatic amines to form imine inte ...

Pd-catalyzed cyclizative functionalization of γ-hydroxyalkenes affords tetrahydrofuran derivatives via a key 5-exo-trig oxypalladation step. Herein, we report a palladium(II)-catalyzed, Selectfluor-mediated formal 6-endo-trig fluorocycloetherification of γ ...

Directly editing an all-carbon quaternary carbon itself of nonstrained acyclic molecules remains underexploited despite the recent advances in the fields of both C–H and C–C bond activation. Herein, we report a palladium-catalyzed migrative carbofluorinati ...

Catalysts play a major role in chemical synthesis, and catalysis is considered to be a green and economic process. Catalysis is dominated by covalent interactions between the catalyst and substrate. The design of non-covalent catalysts came into limelight ...
