The recent advancements in electrochemical measurements are guiding the development of new platforms for in situ point-of-care monitoring of human-metabolite, markers, and drugs. Despite this, the application of voltammetry-based sensing (VBS) techniques i ...

The ability to detect protein biomarkers at a subnanomolar level represents a pervasive challenge in order to bring a significant improvement in early diagnosis or progression of pato-physiological processes. To this aim, Screen Printed Electrochemical Sen ...

Novel methods to obtain Pt nanostructured electrodes have raised particular interest due to their high performance in electrochemistry. Several nanostructuration methods proposed in the literature use costly and bulky equipment or are time-consuming due to ...

The development of a low-cost, robust, and versatile biosensors for the rapid detection of endogenous and exogenous metabolites in small animals is of great interest for health-care, pharmaceuticals, and in translational medicine. This work presents a comp ...

The design, realization and verification of a system for personalized rehabilitation of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) patients are here presented. It consists of two main parts: (i) one induces in the patient the physiotherapic movement proposed by the trainer ...

This focus article introduces the concept of NutriChip, an integrated microfluidic platform for investigating the potential of the immuno-modulatory function of dairy food. The core component of the NutriChip is a miniaturized artificial human gastrointest ...

Modern silicon-based detectors for high-energy physics operate in an experimental environment with sub-zero temperatures. At those temperatures, even low traces of humidity will produce vapor condensation with damages to the detectors. Monitoring relative ...

In this work, we study the effect of transistor downscaling in a wireless communication circuit for Body Dust application. The system requires a chip lateral size smaller than 10 mu m miming the typical size of a red blood cell and so, supporting free circ ...

This paper compares three different biocompatible packagings suitable to support full implantation of multi-panel sensors for remote monitoring of metabolism. The three packagings have been designed, realized and implanted in mice for 30 days. ATP and neut ...

After decades of research on non-invasive glucose monitoring, invasive devices based on finger blood sampling are still the predominant reference for diabetic patients for accurately measuring blood glucose levels. Meanwhile, research continues improving p ...

Electrochemical devices and systems are significant for the development of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and personalized therapy. However, electrochemical sensors are usually not that much selective. Therefore, innovative machine learning (ML) approac ...

We have already demonstrated that high quality SiNW-FETs can be used to sense very low concentration range (fM) of pathogenic factors in controlled PBS. In this work we show, for the first time, Silicon Nanowire Field Effect Transistors (SiNW-FET) as biose ...

Recently, electrochemiluminescent (ECL) immunosensors have received much attention in the field of biomarker detection. Here, a highly enhanced ECL immunosensing platform was designed for ultrasensitive detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The surf ...

In the past, tantalum oxide devices have been used to create non-volatile digital memories, whilst neglecting the analogue memristive characteristics of such devices. In this Letter, it is shown that these devices can provide a low-cost, low-power solution ...

The rise of single-use electronics for fast health screening has prompted a reevaluation of traditional materials and manufacturing techniques to address the growing issue of electronic waste (e-waste). Inexpensive self-monitoring devices provide valuable ...

Multi-ion potentiometric sensing becomes challenging for mixed-ion samples in which interfering electrolytes significantly alter the response of each single sensor. Therefore, an emulator based on the phase-boundary potential model is proposed to simulate ...

This paper presents a robust, capacitive digital read-out circuit (ROC) for sensitive skin applications in humanoid robots. The ROC can be calibrated to null the parasitic effects of transducer variation due to physical assembly. A prototype is fabricated ...

Connected medical devices are already paving the way towards the realization of Smart Hospitals where patient care is improved thanks to Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Following this trend, in this paper we propose an IoT cloud-based network for anest ...

Monolayer thin films with ethylene-glycol function onto gold surfaces by using thiols have been extensively investigated. They have been proposed as precursors for applications to bio-detection, where their hydrophilic character improves both specificity a ...

An amperometric biosensor for adenosine 5 -triphosphate (ATP) was developed applying a competitive assay of two glucose converting enzymes: glucose oxidase (GOD) and hexokinase (HEX). Competition between GOD and HEX for glucose in presence of ATP, lead to ...
