Cobalt porphine (CoP) dissolved in the organic phase of a biphasic system is used to catalyze O2 reduction by an electron donor, ferrocene (Fc). Using voltammetry at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES), it is possible to driv ...

Simple methods to self-assemble coatings and films encompassing nanoparticles are highly desirable in many practical scenarios, yet scarcely any examples of simple, robust approaches to coat macroscopic droplets with continuous, thick (multilayer), reflect ...

The present work shows that the electrochemical properties of electrospray ionization (ESI) can be used to add functions to the process. As example, we show how the choice of the electrode material can be used to study interactions between metal ions and b ...

A voltammetric methodology to determine the standard Gibbs energy of transfer of highly hydrophobic and hydrophilic ions has been developed. The electrochemical cell used includes a water|1,2-dichloroethane micro-interface supported on a microhole in a thi ...

Water oxidation catalysed by iridium oxide nanoparticles (IrO2 NPs) in water–acetonitrile mixtures using [RuIII(bpy)3]3+ as oxidant was studied as a function of the water content, the acidity of the reaction media and the catalyst concentration. It was obs ...

Melittin, a membrane-active peptide with antimicrobial activity, was investigated at the interface formed between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES) supported on a metallic electrode. Ion-transfer voltammetry showed well-defined semi-reversible t ...

The formation and the dissociation of metal hydrides are key steps within the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) pathway for photochemical water splitting, but also impacts a wide range of other catalytic, industrial, and biochemical reactions. Herein, we d ...

Not just a solvent anymore: CO2 reduction under supercritical conditions was achieved in a biphasic water–supercritical CO2 system using an aqueous soluble catalyst (see picture). The introduction of such an interface provides a suitable reaction medium wh ...

Electrocatalysis of water oxidation was achieved using fluorinated tin oxide (FTO) electrodes modified with layer-by-layer deposited films consisting of bilayers of negatively charged citrate-stabilized IrO2 NPs and positively charged poly(diallyldimethyla ...

Herein is reported the determination of the Gibbs energy of dioxouranium (UO22+) transfer across an interface between two immiscible electrolytic solutions (ITIES), water and 1,2-dichloroethane, that was supported at a 25 mu m diameter microhole, by means ...

This review article summarizes the different fields of research at the Laboratoire d'Electrochimie Physique et Analytique at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne. The research areas covered include charge transfer reactions at soft interfaces, bio- ...

Oxygen reduction catalyzed by cobalt(II) (2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethylporphyrin) [Co(OEP)] at soft interfaces is studied by voltammetry and biphasic reactions. When Co(OEP) is present in a solution of 1,2-dichloroethane in contact with an aqueous acidic s ...

Biphasic electrospray ionization (BESI) mass spectrometry is achieved by using a dual-channel microsprayer, where channels filled with different immiscible phases meet at the Taylor cone. Two types of interfacial complexation reactions have been studied: t ...

Single metal ion-phospholipid complexes are observed in biphasic electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (BESI-MS) using a dual-channel microsprayer. Such a microsprayer makes it possible to put into contact two immiscible liquids within the Taylor cone. ...

The diprotonated form of a fluorinated free base porphyrin, namely 5-(p-aminophenyl)-10,15,20-tris(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrin (H(2)FAP), can catalyze the reduction of oxygen by a weak electron donor, namely ferrocene (Fc). At a water/1,2-dichloroethane in ...

diagram of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphine (H2TPP) at the water|1,2-dichloroethane interface using a simple Born solvation model. This zone diagram shows under which form this porphyrin is present, i.e. neutral, monoprotonated or diprotonated, and ...

Experimental studies and density functional theory (DFT) computations suggest that oxygen and proton reduction by decamethylferrocene (DMFc) in 1,2-dichloroethane involves protonated DMFc, DMFcH+, as an active intermediate species, producing hydrogen perox ...

Aqueous protons reduction by decamethylferrocene in 1,2-dichloroethane can be catalyzed efficiently by platinum and palladium nanoparticles electrogenerated in situ at the liquid–liquid interface. ...

Two peptides known to interact with receptors embedded in cell membranes, angiotensin III (AngIII) and Leuenkephalin(LeuEnk), were studied electrochemically at the interface formed between two immiscible electrolyte solutions modified by an adsorbed monola ...

Adsorption of charged species at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES) is simulated taking into account both the mutual influence between the potential dependent surface excess charge and the potential distribution between the ...
