MoO2 microparticles act as an active catalyst for the electrochemical reduction of CO2 in organic solvents such as acetonitrile and dimethylformamide. The catalytic activity and product selectivity depend on temperature and water content of the solvent. ...

Sunlight-driven water splitting to produce hydrogen fuel is an attractive method for renewable energy conversion. Tandem photoelectrochemical water splitting devices utilize two photoabsorbers to harvest the sunlight and drive the water splitting reaction. ...

The title reaction is realized by using an isolated NiII complex (1). The catalysis tolerates a wide range of important functional groups that are often incompatible with Grignard reagents in cross-coupling reactions. ...

The present invention relates to a polyaromatic polymer that comprises multifunctional aromatic moieties MA, cationic groups CG and bifunctional aromatic moieties BA, wherein one or more CG and one or more BA form a linear unit L, and MA is connected to 3 ...

Scrutinizing the metal nitride/oxide interface reveals the chemical origin of the enhanced oxygen reduction activity of metal nitrides. ...

Lithium-ion batteries with enhanced rate performance are of crucial importance for practical applications. Extensive studies on the structural design and surface modification of electrode materials with the aim of improving the rate performance have been r ...

The present specification relates to a fluorinated polyaromatic polymer comprising • at least one fluorinated unit FU of formula (I) and • at least one cationic unit CU of formula B or C. ...

Cross-coupling of two alkyl fragments is an efficient method to produce organic molecules rich in sp(3)-hybridized carbon centres, which are attractive candidate compounds in drug discovery. Enantioselective C(sp(3))-C(sp(3)) coupling is challenging, espec ...

Single-atom catalysts exhibit well-defined active sites and potentially maximum atomic efficiency. However, they are unsuitable for reactions that benefit from bimetallic promotion such as the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in an alkaline medium. Here we ...

A [FeIIFeII] dithiolate complex containing acyl and carbonyl ligands was synthesized. The diiron complex reacted with phosphine, cyanide, isocyanide, and CO to give monomeric FeII complexes reproducing the first coordination sphere of the active site of [F ...

The reduction of protons into dihydrogen is important because of its potential use in a wide range of energy applications. The preparation of efficient and cheap catalysts for this reaction is one of the issues that need to be tackled to allow the widespre ...

The stereoselective synthesis of trisubstituted alkenes is challenging. Here, we show that an iron-catalyzed anti-selective carbozincation of terminal alkynes can be combined with a base-metal-catalyzed cross coupling to prepare trisubstituted alkenes in a ...

The activities of a series of MoS2-based hydrogen evolution catalysts were studied by biphasic reactions monitored by UV/Vis spectroscopy. Carbon supported MoS2 catalysts performed best due to an abundance of catalytic edge sites and strong electronic coup ...

The excellent bifunctional catalytic activity of nickel phosphide (Ni2P) for water splitting is reported. Ni2P, an active hydrogen evolving catalyst, is shown to be highly active for oxygen evolution. Only 290 mV of overpotential is required to generate a ...

Xile Hu was interviewed in celebration of his Royal Society of Chemistry Homogeneous Catalysis Award. ...

The mechanism of alkylaryl Kumada coupling catalyzed by the nickel pincer complex Nickamine was studied. Experiments using radical-probe substrates and DFT calculations established a bimetallic oxidative addition mechanism. Kinetic measurements showed that ...

Intermolecular functionalization of C(sp(3))-H bonds and aliphatic carboxylic acids enables the efficient synthesis of high value-added organic compounds from readily available starting materials. Although methods involving hydrogen atom transfer have been ...

The reconstitution of [Mn]-hydrogenases using a series of Mn-I complexes is described. These complexes are designed to have an internal base or pro-base that may participate in metal-ligand cooperative catalysis or have no internal base or pro-base. Only M ...
