A broad class of imaging modalities involve the resolution of an inverse-scattering problem. Among them, three-dimensional optical diffraction tomography (ODT) comes with its own challenges. These include a limited range of views, a large size of the sampl ...

Optofluidic dye lasers are microfabricated liquid dye lasers enabled by the microfluidics technology. The integration of dye lasers with microfluidics not only facilitates the implementation of complete "lab-on-a-chip" systems, but also allows the dynamica ...

An error was made in calculating the polarization dependent second harmonic response of barium titanate nanoparticles. We have corrected the error and repeated the comparison with the experimental results. (C) 2010 Optical Society of America ...

A technique has been developed to image a fluorescent object hiding behind a light-scattering screen without the need for a detector behind the screen. The approach could find applications in imaging biological tissue. ...

The present invention concerns an electrolysis system for high temperature electrolysis including a plurality of flow-based electrolysis units configured to receive an electrolyte solution and to perform electrolysis to provide a first output gas and a sec ...

Ptychography has become a popular computational imaging method for microscopy in recent years. In the present work we employ a wavelength scanning ptychography technique enhanced by neural networks for imaging with a fiber endoscope. Illumination of the ob ...

Elastic optical scattering, the dominant light-interaction process in biological tissues, prevents tissues from being transparent. Although scattering may appear stochastic, it is in fact deterministic in nature. We show that, despite experimental imperfec ...

We propose the combination of a planar optical resonator and a solid immersion lens for resonantly enhanced non-contact near-field lithography. Subwavelength small spots can be produced by exciting the Bessel modes of the resonator. (C) 2008 Optical Societ ...

We propose and develop a new way for nonscanning coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) imaging by using CARS holography, which can capture, at a single shot, both the amplitude and the phase of a coherent Raman image. It hence allows for chemically ...

Spatiotemporal mode-locked fiber lasers are a type of ultrafast lasers for which the longitudinal and transverse modes of the multimode fiber cavities are locked via nonlinear interaction in the cavity. Here we report the experimental realization of a spat ...

We demonstrate imaging through a turbid layer by using digital phase conjugation of the second harmonic field radiated from a beacon nanoparticle. We show that the phase-conjugated focus can be displaced from its initial position by illuminating the same r ...

A fundamental challenge in neuroengineering is determining a proper artificial input to a sensory system that yields the desired perception. In neuroprosthetics, this process is known as artificial sensory encoding, and it holds a crucial role in prostheti ...

Polarization of light has been widely used as a contrast mechanism in two-dimensional (2D) microscopy and also in some three-dimensional (3D) imaging modalities. In this paper, we report the 3D tomographic reconstruction of the refractive index (RI) tensor ...

The present invention relates to a subsurface laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB) ablation system including an optical source for providing optical pulses and an optical waveguide for guiding the optical pulses to a subsurface target biological tissue s ...

In this paper, we will report our recent development of a new type of OptoFluidic Microscope (OFM) that is capable of delivering resolution beyond the diffraction limit of light. Accurate control of the sample translation is accomplished by adopting an opt ...

We have developed a luminescent marker using the second harmonic generation (SHG) from noncentrosymmetric BaTiO3 nanocrystals. These nanoparticles are attractive due to their stable, non-saturating and coherent signal with a femtosecond-scale response time ...

Free-standing lithium niobate nanowires (LiNbO3) are synthesized by the hydrothermal route. The polarization response of the second harmonic generation (SHG) signal is measured in a single nanowire and used to identify the crystal orientation by matching w ...

The present disclosure concerns a membrane-less electrolyzer comprising a first electrode and a second electrode, a first fluidic channel configured to receive an electrolyte, a second fluidic channel configured to receive the electrolyte from the first fl ...

We describe a multi-color microfluidic dye laser operating in whispering gallery mode based on a train of alternating droplets containing solutions of different dyes; this laser is capable of switching the wavelength of its emission between 580 nm and 680 ...
