Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) has become an inescapable technique for spectroscopic identification. Its main advantage comes from the sensitivity of NMR active nuclei embedded in a molecule to their chemical environment. NMR is also used daily in medica ...

Para-water is an analogue of para-hydrogen, where the two proton spins are in a quantum state that is antisymmetric under permutation, also known as singlet state. The populations of the nuclear spin states in para-water are believed to have long lifetimes ...

Increasing resistance to antiviral drugs approved for the treatment of influenza urges the development of novel compounds. Ideally, this should be complemented by a careful consideration of the administration route. 6′siallyllactosamine-functionalized β-cy ...

Halide perovskite nanocrystals are promising materials for optoelectronic applications. Metal doping provides an avenue to boost their performance further, e.g., by enhancing light emission, or to provide additional functionalities, such as nanoscale magne ...

At the outermost surface of colloidal QDs are organic surface ligands which dynamically bind and release in solution to control the growth kinetics, control the size/shape of the crystals, passivate surface states, and provide colloidal stability through f ...

Hyperpolarization by dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (D-DNP) offers a way of enhancing NMR signals by up to five orders of magnitude in metabolites and other small molecules. Nevertheless, the lifetime of hyperpolarization is inexorably limited, a ...

This communication describes a three-field experiment where inequivalent scalar coupled spin pairs are hyperpolarized at 3.35 T and 1.2 K by dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP), rapidly transferred to high field (7 T) to prepare a suitable initial condition ...

Hyperpolarization of NMR-active nuclei is key to gather high quality spectra of rare species and insensitive isotopes. We have recently established that silica-based materials containing regularly distributed nitroxyl radicals connected to the silica matri ...

As a leading contender to replace lead halide perovskites, tin-based perovskites have demonstrated ever increasing performance in solar cells and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). They tend to be processed with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solvent, which has been ...

Cross polarization can provide significant enhancements with respect to direct polarization of low-gamma nuclei such as C-13. Substantial gains in sample throughput (shorter polarization times) can be achieved by exploiting shorter build-up times tau(DNP)( ...

Hyperpolarization of substrates for magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and imaging (MRI) by dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (D-DNP) usually involves saturating the ESR transitions of polarizing agents (PAs; e.g., persistent radicals embedded in ...

Of the different modalities used to treat retinoblastoma, a chemothermotherapeutic regimen combining carboplatin and thermotherapy (also termed focal therapy), and the application of melphalan as a monotherapy, are particularly successful. Some studies ind ...

In deuterated molecules such as [1-C-13]pyruvate-d(3), the nuclear spin polarization of C-13 nuclei can be enhanced by combining Hartmann-Hahn cross-polarization (CP) at low temperatures (1.2 K) with dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (D-DNP). The po ...

The document relates to a method for the determination of the binding properties of at least one first chemical compound to at least one second chemical compound between a free essentially dissociated state and a bound essentially associated state by using ...

Dynamic nuclear polarization at 1.2 K and 6.7 T allows one to achieve spin temperatures on the order of a few millikelvin, so that the high-temperature approximation (Delta E < kT) is violated for the nuclear Zeeman interaction Delta E = gamma B(0)h/(2 pi) ...

A new NMR method for the study of ligand protein interactions exploits the unusual lifetimes of long-lived states (LLSs). The new method provides better contrast between bound and free ligands and requires a protein-ligand ratio ca. 25 times lower than for ...

Hyperpolarization is generated by dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (d-DNP) using a polymer-based polarizing agent dubbed FLAP (filterable labeled agents for polarization). It consists of a thermo-responsive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), also known a ...

This article is a short review of some of our recent developments in dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (d-DNP). We present the basic principles of d-DNP, and motivate our choice to step away from conventional approaches. We then introduce a modified ...

A half-century quest for improving resolution in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has enabled the study of molecular structures, biological interactions, and fine details of anatomy. This progress largely relied on the ...

Dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (D-DNP) experiments enabled us to study the kinetics of the enzymatic phosphorylation reaction of glucose to form glucose-6-phosphate (G6P) by hexokinase (HK), with or without the presence of an excess of G6P, which ...
