Growing interest in the role of ions as cell death regulators has led to the consideration of K+, which plays a major role in events such as necrosis, apoptosis and osmotic shock. These mechanisms induce effluxes of K+, which can be m ...

Technology mapping transforms a technology-independent representation into a technology-dependent one given a library of cells. Even if technology libraries contain multi-output cells, state-of-the-art techniques fully exploit single-output cells only. Mul ...

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes and graphene nanoflowers were grown by a catalytic chemical vapor deposition process on metal surfaces. Electrodeposition was used as a versatile technique to obtain three different iron catalyst coatings on platinum microelec ...

Quantum compilation is the task of translating a high-level description of a quantum algorithm into a sequence of low-level quantum operations. We propose and motivate the use of Xor-And-Inverter Graphs (XAG) to specify Boolean functions for quantum compil ...

Nowadays industrial monoprocessor and multipro- cessor systems make use of hardware floating-point units (FPUs) to provide software acceleration and better precision due to the necessity to compute complex software applications. This paper presents the des ...

Label–free DNA detection is of crucial role to when developing point-of-care biochips to be used in personalized therapy. Capacitance detection is a promising technology for label-free DNA detection. However, data published in literature often show evident ...

Despite the impressive advance of logic synthesis during the past decades, a general methodology capable of efficiently synthesizing both control and datapath logic is still missing. Indeed, while synthe- sis techniques for random control logic (AND/OR-int ...

Spin Wave Devices (SWDs) are promising beyond-CMOS candidates. Unlike traditional charge-based technologies, SWDs use spin as information carrier that propagates in waves. In this scenario, the logic primitive for computation is the majority gate. T ...

We report on the top-down fabrication of vertically-stacked polysilicon nanowire (NW) gate-all-around (GAA) field-effect-transistors (FET) by means of Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) etching and nanostencil lithography. The nanostencil is used to form sub ...

Meeting temperature constraints and reducing the hot-spots are critical for achieving reliable and efficient operation of complex multi-core systems. In this paper we aim at achieving an online smooth thermal control action that minimizes the performance l ...

In this work, we showed the realization of a fully- implantable device that integrates a microfabricated sensing platform, a coil for power and data transmission and integrated circuits. We described a device intended to test the biocompati- bility of the ...

We present a novel circuit for the automated and quick characterization of an array of experimental memristive nanowires that are functionalized as biosensors. Successfully functionalized nanowires will express the concentration of target molecules by hyst ...

Background The ambition of most molecular biologists is the understanding of the intricate network of molecular interactions that control biological systems. As scientists uncover the components and the connectivity of these networks, it becomes possible t ...

Nowadays medical software is tightly coupled with medical devices that perform patient state monitoring and lately even some basic treatment procedures. Medical guidelines (GLs) can be seen as specification of a medical system which requires their computer ...

Ultrasound imaging is a reference medical diagnostic technique, thanks to its blend of versatility, effectiveness, and moderate cost. The core computation of all ultrasound imaging methods is based on simple formulae, except for those required to calculate ...

Biosensors have been applied to disparate fields, especially for endogenous compounds such as glucose and lactate. The main areas of application are certainly related to medical and diagnostic purposes. However, metabolic monitoring can be also of interest ...

We present a new method for electrochemical sensing, which compensates the fouling effect of propofol through machine learning (ML) model. Direct and continuous monitoring of propofol is crucial in the development of automatic systems for control of drug i ...

Microdevices dedicated to monitor metabolite levels have recently enabled many applications in the field of cell analysis, to monitor cell growth and development of numerous cell lines. By combining the traditional technology used for electrochemical biose ...

Vertically stacked nanowire FETs (NWFETs) with gate-all-around structure are the natural and most advanced extension of FinFETs. At advanced technology nodes, many devices exhibit ambipolar behavior, i.e., the device shows n- and p-type characteristics sim ...

The design, realization, and preliminary test of a portable wireless system for measuring key metabolites (e.g., glucose, lactate, calcium, potassium, etc..) in intensive cure monitoring is presented. The system is composed by a 3D-Printed case, which incl ...
