Background In the literature, several different transfer matrices have been presented for deriving the vectorcardiogram (VCG) from the signals observed using a limited set of electrodes. Even when the electrode locations were identical, like 9 of the stand ...

In the discussion on the use of the surface Laplacian (SL) of the distribution of bioelectric potentials on the body surface, the question remained open whether a complete specification of the SL of the potential over the surface bounding a volume conducto ...

Aims The implantable loop recorder (ILR) continuously monitors the heart’s electric activity by means of a subcutaneous bipolar electrogram (Elg). Currently, the relationship between the Elg and the surface electrocardiogram (ECG) has been poorly documente ...

Doctor Macchi reported on the progress of an animal model study of electric propagation initiated by electric stimuli. Doctor Oostendorp first gave an introduction to the inverse problem of cardiac activation time mapping (ATM), the determination of the de ...

Clinical standard 12-lead ECG recordings over 5 minutes on patients in atrial fibrillation or in atrial flutter were analyzed. After suppression of the signal components related to ventricular activity, the amplitude spectra of all leads were inspected. Th ...

Quantifying the role of atrial ectopic foci in the initiation and the maintenance of atrial fibrillation (AF) is a relevant clinical problem. This study aims at assessing the relation between the activity level of an ectopic focus and the complexity of the ...

Objective: The objective of the study was to design a lead system aimed at studying atrial fibrillation (AF), while being anchored to the standard 12-lead system. Methods: The location of 4 of the 6 precordial electrodes was optimized while leaving the rem ...

Objective: To study the involvement of atrial repolarization in body surface potentials. Methods: Electrocardiograms of healthy subjects were recorded using a 64-lead system. The data analysis focused on the PQ intervals, while devoting special attention t ...

The research discussed in this article is motivated by the search for an optimal classification of the different types of atrial fibrillation (AF) on the basis of recorded atrial signals. This would facilitate the selection of an optimal therapy. This arti ...

In the literature, several different transfer matrices have been presented for deriving the vectorcardiogram (VCG) from the signals observed using a limited set of electrodes. Even when the electrode locations were identical, like 9 of the standard 12-lead ...

The membrane kinetics of human atrial myocytes as formulated by Courtemance, Ramierz and Nattel has been studied while focusing on its progression toward stationary solutions during long term repetitive stimulation. An algorithm is presented for finding th ...
