We analyze the quantum antiferromagnet on the maple leaf lattice in the presence of a magnetic field. Starting from its exact dimer ground state and for a magnetic field strength of the order of the local dimer spin-exchange coupling, we perform a strong-c ...

Quantum Monte Carlo simulations provide one of the more powerful and versatile numerical approaches to condensed matter systems. However, their application to frustrated quantum spin models, in all relevant temperature regimes, is hamstrung by the infamous ...

We report on an exhaustive investigation of the dynamical dimer-dimer correlations in imaginary time for the quantum dimer model on the triangular lattice using the Green’s function Monte Carlo method. We show in particular that soft modes develop upon red ...

We study the triangular-lattice Ising model with dipolar interactions, inspired by its realisation in artificial arrays of nanomagnets. We show that a classical spin-liquid forms at intermediate temperatures, and that its behaviour can be tuned by temperat ...

Starting from the mean-field solution of a spin-orbital model of LiNiO2, we derive an effective quantum dimer model (QDM) that lives on the triangular lattice and contains kinetic terms acting on four-site plaquettes and six-site loops. Using exact diagona ...

We have performed first-principle calculations of the electronic structure and exchange couplings for the nanotube compound Na2V3O7 using the local-density approximation Hubbard parameter U approach. Our results show that while the intraring exchange inter ...

The properties of stable Luttinger liquid phases in models with a nonconserved number of particles are investigated. We study the Luttinger liquid phases in one-dimensional models of hard-core boson and spinless fermion chains where particles can be create ...

Motivated by the lack of direct evidence with inelastic neutron scattering of the well documented bound state of Heisenberg ferromagnets, we use the time-dependent thermal density matrix renormalization group algorithm to study the temperature dependence o ...

Conflicting predictions have been made for the ground state of the SU(3) Heisenberg model on the honeycomb lattice: Tensor network simulations found a plaquette order [Zhao et al., Phys. Rev. B 85, 134416 (2012)], where singlets are formed on hexagons, whi ...

We investigate the properties of a frustrated spin-5/2 chain with next-nearest-neighbor two- and three-site interactions, with two questions in mind: the nature of the transition into the dimerized phase induced by the three-site interaction, and the possi ...

Motivated by recent experimental progress in the context of ultracold multicolor fermionic atoms in optical lattices, we have developed a method to exactly diagonalize the Heisenberg SU(N) Hamiltonian with several particles per site living in a fully symme ...

Frustrated quantum magnets are a real challenge to theorists because standard analytical and numerical methods fail in most cases. Significant progress has been recently achieved however on the basis of what one may call minimal models, i.e. models which k ...

Motivated by the remarkable properties of SrCu2(BO3)(2) in a magnetic field, we use perturbative continuous unitary transformations to determine the magnetization plateaux of the Shastry-Sutherland model, unveiling an unexpected sequence of plateaux progre ...

Building on the generalization of the exactly dimerized Majumdar-Ghosh ground state to arbitrary spin S for the Heisenberg chain with a three-site term (Si-1 . S-i)(S-i . Si+1) + H.c., we use density-matrix renormalization group simulations and exact diago ...

We study the T=0 magnetization of frustrated two-leg spin ladders with arbitrary value of the spin S. In the strong-rung limit, we use degenerate perturbation theory to prove that frustration leads to magnetization plateaus at fractional values of the magn ...

We show that the critical fields of the magnetization plateaus of the Shastry-Sutherland model decrease significantly upon increasing the ratio of inter- to intradimer coupling and accordingly that the magnetization plateaus of SrCu2(BO3)2 shift to lower f ...

We present a method for the exact diagonalization of the SU(N) Heisenberg interaction Hamiltonian using Young tableaus to work directly in each irreducible representation of the global SU(N) group. This generalized scheme is applicable to chains consisting ...

Magnetic excitations in copper pyrimidine dinitrate, a spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic chain with alternating g-tensor and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions that exhibits a field-induced spin gap, are probed by means of pulsed-field electron-spin-resonance spe ...
