We report on a detailed investigation of the spin-1 J1−J2−J3 Heisenberg model, a frustrated model with nearest-neighbor coupling J1, next-nearest neighbor coupling J2, and a three-site interaction J3[(Si−1⋅Si)(Si⋅Si+1)+H.c.] previously studied in [Phys. Re ...

We investigate the structure of the spectrum of antiferromagnetically coupled spin-1 bosons on a square lattice using degenerate perturbation theory and exact diagonalizations of finite clusters. We show that the superfluid phase develops an Anderson tower ...

Low-dimensional quantum magnets at finite temperatures present a complex interplay of quantum and thermal fluctuation effects in a restricted phase space. While some information about dynamical response functions is available from theoretical studies of th ...

We consider the effects of doping the S=3/2 kagome lattice with static, nonmagnetic impurities. By exact-diagonalization calculations on small clusters, we deduce the local spin correlations and magnetization distribution around a vacancy. As in the S=1/2 ...

Quantum magnetic materials can provide explicit realizations of paradigm models in quantum many-body physics. In this context, SrCu2(BO3)2 is a faithful realization of the Shastry-Sutherland model for ideally frustrated spin dimers, even displaying several ...

We revisit the description of the low-energy singlet sector of the spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on kagome in terms of an effective quantum dimer model. With the help of exact diagonalizations of appropriate finite-size clusters, we show that the emb ...

We investigate the classical chiral Ashkin-Teller model on a square lattice with the corner transfer matrix renormalization group algorithm. We show that the melting of the period-4 phase in the presence of a chiral perturbation takes different forms depen ...

We propose a simple method to deconvolute NMR spectra of quadrupolar nuclei in order to separate the distribution of local magnetic hyperfine field from the quadrupole splitting. It is based on an iterative procedure which allows to express the intensity o ...

We show that spin S Heisenberg spin chains with an additional three-body interaction of the form (Si-1 center dot S-i)(S-i center dot S-i (+) (1)) + H.c. possess fully dimerized ground states if the ratio of the three-body interaction to the bilinear one i ...

We investigate by resonant inelastic x-ray scattering the magnetic excitations in thin films of tetragonal CuO. We identify a spin wave excitation, dispersing on two cupratelike antiferromagnetic sublattices. Its energy at the boundary of the Brillouin zon ...

Using infinite projected entangled-pair states, exact diagonalization, and flavor-wave theory, we show that the SU(4) Heisenberg model undergoes a spontaneous dimerization on the square lattice, in contrast with its SU(2) and SU(3) counterparts, which deve ...

We investigate the phase diagram of the t−J model on a triangular lattice using a variational Monte Carlo approach. We use an extended set of Gutzwiller projected fermionic trial wave functions allowing for simultaneous magnetic and superconducting order p ...

Motivated by the rich phase diagrams recently unveiled in frustrated spin-1 chains with competing next-nearest-neighbor and four-spin interactions, we investigate the nature of the elementary excitations of spin-1 chains in the vicinity of phase transition ...

Motivated by the recent generalization of the Haldane conjecture to SU(3) chains [Lajko et al., Nucl. Phys. B924, 508 (2017)] according to which a Haldane gap should be present for symmetric representations if the number of boxes in the Young diagram is a ...

The phase diagram of the spin-1 chain with bilinear-biquadratic and next-nearest-neighbor interactions, recently investigated by Pixley, Shashi, and Nevidomskyy [Phys. Rev. B 90, 214426 (2014)], has been revisited in the light of results we have recently o ...

Using the corner-transfer matrix renormalization group to contract the tensor network that describes its partition function, we investigate the nature of the phase transitions of the hard-square model, one of the exactly solved models of statistical physic ...

Ground states of the frustrated spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg two-leg ladder with Heisenberg intra-rung coupling and only Ising interaction along legs and diagonals are rigorously found by taking advantage of local conservation of the total spin on each rung. Th ...

We investigate the effect of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interactions on torque measurements of quantum magnets with magnetization plateaux in the context of a frustrated spin-1/2 ladder. Using extensive DMRG simulations, we show that the DM contribution to ...

Using extensive classical and quantum Monte Carlo simulations, we investigate the ground-state phase diagram of the fully frustrated transverse field Ising model on the square lattice. We show that pure columnar order develops in the low-field phase above ...

Using infinite projected entangled-pair states, we show that the Shastry-Sutherland model in an external magnetic field has low-magnetization plateaus which, in contrast to previous predictions, correspond to crystals of bound states of triplets, and not t ...
