Cancer vaccination is a powerful strategy to combat cancer. A very attractive approach to prime the immune system against cancer cells involves the use of tumor lysate as antigen source. The immunogenicity of tumor lysate can be further enhanced by treatme ...

The residue-specific modification of peptides and proteins is a powerful strategy for preparing biomolecular-synthetic polymer conjugates with advanced properties. This manuscript aims at expanding the present toolbox of residue-selective protein modificat ...

Polymer brushes are typically densely grafted assemblies of polymer chains that are tethered via one end group to a solid substrate. Anchoring linear polymer chains via both end groups to a surface results in loop-type polymer brushes. Although loop polyme ...

This feature article provides a compilation of tools available for preparing well-defined peptide/protein–polymer conjugates, which are defined as hybrid constructs combining (i) a defined number of peptide/protein segments with uniform chain lengths and d ...

Ought to their bioinert properties and facile synthesis, poly[(oligoethylene glycol)methacrylate]s (POEGMAs) have been raised as attractive alternatives to poly(ethylene glycols) (PEGs) in an array of (bio)material applications, especially when they are ap ...

Three synthesis lots of linear poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI) are compared to a fully hydrolyzed linear PEI (commercially available as PEI Max) regarding structure, polyplex formation with plasmid DNA, and transfection of suspension-adapted HEK-293E cells. PEI ...

This work describes the dilute solution and solid-state structure of polyelectrolyte complexes generated from hyperbranched polylysine (HBPL) and various anionic, sodium alkyl sulfate surfactants. In dilute solution, the radius of gyration (Rg) of the HBPL ...

Polymer-protein conjugates generated from side chain functional synthetic polymers are attractive because they can be easily further modified with, for example, labeling groups or targeting ligands. The residue specific modification of proteins with side c ...

This paper describes the preparation, characterization, and enzymatic activity of complex coacervate core micelles (C3Ms) composed of poly (acrylic acid) (PAA) and poly (N- methyl-2- vinyl pyridinium iodide)-b-poly (ethylene oxide) (PQ2VP-PEO) to which the ...

Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) and poly(poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate) (PPEGMA) brushes represent a class of thin, surface-tethered polymer films that have been extensively used e.g. to generate non-biofouling surfaces or as model systems t ...

A library-orientated approach is used to gain understanding of the interactions of well-defined nanoparticles with primary human endothelial cells, which are a key component of the vasculature. Fifteen sequentially modified gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) based ...

The exploration of renewable resources is essential to help transition toward a more sustainable materials economy. The valorization of lignin can be a key component of this transition. Lignin is an aromatic polymer that constitutes approximately one-third ...

This report demonstrates the feasibility of surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization to prepare thin polymer layers ("brushes") that can be functionalized with short peptide ligands and which may be of use as coatings to promote endothelializ ...

Hydrophilic/hydrophobic patterning is a well-established design strategy to guide secondary structure formation of both natural as well as non-natural oligomers and polymers. This contribution explores the feasibility of a new approach for the synthesis of ...

Polycarbonate polymers find widespread use for a variety of applications. Driven by the need to transition away from fossil‐based resources, there is increasing interest in exploring bio‐based monomers for the synthesis of polycarbonates. One interesting c ...

This contribution explores different strategies for the synthesis of side chain functional polydepsipeptides. First, the ring-opening polymerization of side chain functional morpholine-2,5-diones is revisited and the optimized reaction conditions used for ...

This study investigates the structure and organization of a series of hybrid diblock copolymers based on polyethylene glycol) (PEG) and peptide sequences inspired by the coiled coil protein folding motif. Circular dichroism spectroscopy and analytical ultr ...

This paper reports on the cell uptake and trafficking properties of a series of non-covalent polymer-drug conjugates. These nanomedicines are composed of a poly(N-(2-hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide) backbone functionalized with multiple copies of a drug. The ...

Hydrolytically degradable polymer brushes would represent an interesting platform for the development of functional coatings for various biomaterials applications In this manuscript, the surface- initiated atom transfer radical copolymerization of 5.6-benz ...

The self-assembly in aqueous solution of hybrid block copolymers consisting of amphiphilic ?-strand peptide sequences flanked by one or two PEG chains was investigated by means of circular dichroism spectroscopy, small-angle X-ray scattering, and transmiss ...
