The paper presents a set of experimental investigations related to the dynamic behavior of supercapacitors. The experimentally observed results are then used as inputs for the development of an improved version of one of the most common supercapacitor RC-e ...

This letter provides conditions determining the rank of the nodal admittance matrix, and arbitrary block partitions of it, for connected AC power networks with complex admittances. Furthermore, some implications of these properties concerning Kron Reductio ...

The integration of the dynamic line rating (DLR) of overhead transmission lines (OTLs) in power systems secu- rity constrained unit commitment (SCUC) potentially enhances the overall system security as well as its technical/economic performances. This pape ...

The paper proposes a synchropahsor estimation (SE) algorithm that leverages the use of a delayed in-quadrature complex signal to mitigate the self-interference of the fundamental tone. The estimator, which uses a three-point IpDFT combined with a three-cyc ...

We consider the problem of controlling the charging of electric vehicles (EVs) connected to a single charging station that follows an aggregated power setpoint from a main controller of the local distribution grid. To cope with volatile resources such as l ...

This paper proposes a novel method for the optimal parameter selection of the discrete-time switch model used in circuit solvers that adopt the fixed admittance matrix nodal method (FAMNM) approach. As known, FAMNM-based circuit solvers allow to reach effi ...

With the increasing need of real-time regulation in power systems, grid-aware-control-frameworks are relying more often on sensitivity coefficients (SCs) to formulate and efficiently solve optimal control problems. As known, SCs are the derivatives of cont ...

Accurate intraday solar irradiance forecasting is crucial for optimizing dispatch planning and electricity trading. For this purpose, we introduce a novel and effective approach that includes three distinguishing components from the literature: 1) the unco ...

This paper proposes a new experimental investigation of the ageing mechanisms of super capacitors. Starting from the main ageing mechanisms of these devices reported in the literature, the paper proposes a suitably developed procedure aimed at evaluating t ...

The paper proposes a novel method for the optimal parameter selection of the discrete-time switch model used in circuit solvers that adopt the Fixed Admittance Matrix Nodal Method (FAMNM) approach. As known, FAMNM-based circuit solvers allow to reach effic ...

The paper presents an automated single-end FPGA-based fault location system for AC/DC power networks. The proposed system is based on the electromagnetic time reversal theory and uses an automated FPGA-based real-time simulator to perform the fault locatio ...

The development of software models of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) within Real-Time Simulators (RTSs) represents a promising tool for the design and validation of monitoring and control applications in electrical power networks. In this sense, it is nec ...

A time reversal process for determining a fault location in an electrical power network comprising multi-conductor lines, comprises measuring at an observation point located anywhere along one of the multi-conductor lines, for each of the conductors of the ...

Nowadays, the importance of providing frequency stability to power systems with hydropower units is significantly increasing due to the growing proportion of volatile renewable energy sources. However, the provision of such services, as frequency containme ...

In this second part, we evaluate the performances of our control framework by applying it to a casestudy that contains a minimum set of elements allowing to show its applicability and potentials. Weshow how the computation of the PQt profiles, belief funct ...
