Polyiodides have been transferred intact from acetonitrile solution to the gas phase and analyzed by mass spectrometry. A range of ions were observed, including I-11, I-13, and I-15, which have higher iodine/iodide ratios than any previously ...

A targeted drug delivery system that is triggered by changes in pH based on single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), derivatized with carboxylate groups and coated with a polysaccharide material, can be loaded with the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX). The ...

Charge-assisted hydrogen bonds (CAHBs) play critical roles in many systems from biology through to materials. In none of these areas has the role and function of CAHBs been explored satisfactorily because of the lack of data on the energy of CAHBs in the c ...

Ionic liquids continue to find applications in an ever-increasing range of technologies. Here we describe some of the key routes used to prepare ionic liquids and then relate their properties to their applications. In particular, ionic liquids have been us ...

A series of water-tolerant Lewis acidic TiO2/Nb2O5 center dot nH(2)O heterojunction catalysts with different Ti : Nb ratios have been prepared and investigated in the conversion of glucose into HMF in water. Under optimized conditions (i.e. 150 degrees C, ...

Reaction of the zwitterionic imidazolium salt [(CH2COOH)(CH2COO)i.m.] with K2CO3 or BaO in the presence of 18-crown-6 affords the salts [(CH2COO)2i.m.][K(18-crown-6)] and [(CH2COO)2i.m.]2[Ba(18-crown-6)]. Recrystn. of these crown complexes from the ionic l ...

Designing electrocatalysts that are both highly efficient and durable is crucial for the industrial implementation of alkaline electrocatalytic hydrogen production technologies. A limitation of the current Ru-based catalysts is that the water dissociation ...

Electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) membrane was prepared from a solution of 16 wt % of PVdF-HFP containing acetone/N,N-dimethyl acetamide (7:3 wt %). The prepared electrospun PVdF-HFP membrane (esPM) was then soaked in ...

A series of novel ionic liquids composed of imidazolium, pyridinium, pyrrolidinium, and ammonium cations with tricyanomethanide or tetracyanoborate anions were prepared. The ionic liquids were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy and ESI-mass spectrome ...

A facile method for the fabrication of dendritic gold nanoparticles (NPs) by use of an ionic polymer template has been developed. In situ generation of an imidazolium-based (cationic) polymer, poly[1-methyl-3-(4-vinylbenzyl)imidazolium], with AuCl4- counte ...

Two different fluorescent single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) were prepd. First by a reaction of oxidized SWNT-K salt with 1,3-bis(9-anthracenylmethyl)imidazolium chloride (bamim)Cl to provide a fluorescent system SWNT-(bamim), via ion exchange and forma ...

The fluorescent imidazolium salt (1,3-bis(9-anthracenylmethyl)imidazolium chloride, [bamim]Cl) has been grafted onto the surfaces of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) using an ion exchange strategy based on metathesis of the K+ ion in CO2K derivatized ...

This review commences with a survey of the general synthetic routes leading to aminophosphines containing the P-NH subgroup. Recent examples involving functionalised and chiral aminophosphines are included. The synthesis and structural properties of deprot ...

Novel chemical compounds of the general formula KA, in which K is a 5- or 6- membered heterocyclic ring having 1-3 hetereo atoms, which can be independently N, S, or 0 with the proviso that at least one of the hetereo atoms must be a quaternized n ...

Hybrid perovskite solar cells have attracted tremendous interest in the photovoltaic community. Despite their high defect tolerance, reducing the trap density by material engineering and surface modification is still critical to further boost performance. ...

Compositional engineering of organic-inorganic metal halide perovskite allows for improved optoelectrical properties, however, phase segregation occurs during crystal nucleation and limits perovskite solar cell device performance. Herein, we show that by a ...

A palladium complex with an aminophosphine ligand has been prepared and investigated as a catalyst precursor in Suzuki coupling reactions in toluene. Nanoparticles composed of elemental palladium have been isolated from the reaction media and analyzed usin ...

Methanation of carbon dioxide (CO2) is attractive within the context of a renewable energy refinery. Herein, we report an indirect methanation method that harnesses amino alcohols as relay molecules in combination with a catalyst comprising ruthenium nanop ...

Electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) nanocomposite membranes incorporated with different weight percentages (1, 2 and 3 wt%) of cobalt sulfide (CoS) were prepared by an electrospinning technique. The surface morphology, c ...
