Three 6-phosphoryl picolinic acid (6PPA) derivatives were synthesized and used as europium and terbium sensitizers. Two of the three ligands (6-diethoxyphosphoryl picolinic acid (Hdeppa) and 6-monoethoxyphosphoryl picofinic acid (H(2)meppa)) are water-solu ...

Trivalent lanthanide ions display fascinating optical properties. The discovery of the corresponding elements and their fist industrial uses were intimately linked to their optical properties. This relationship has been kept alive until today when many hig ...

A versatile and robust method for the determination of DNA and PCR products (

The lanthanide binuclear helicate [Eu2(LC2(CO2H))3] is coupled to avidin to yield a luminescent bioconjugate EuB1 (Q ¼ 9.3%, s(5D0) ¼ 2.17 ms). MALDI/TOF mass spectrometry confirms the covalent binding of the Eu chelate and UV-visible spectroscopy allows o ...

A series of homoditopic ligands H2LCX (X=4–6) has been designed to self-assemble with lanthanide ions (LnIII), resulting in neutral bimetallic helicates of overall composition [Ln2ACHTUNGTRENUNG(LCX)3] with the aim of testing the influence of substituents ...

A series of lanthanide complexes Ln(dpxCy)(3) have been synthesised. The ligands are composed of a coordinating dipicolinic acid backbone decorated with a polyoxyethylene arm fitted with a coumarin moiety at its extremity. The nature of the coumarin ...

A para-poly(oxyethylene) dipicolinic acid derivative coupled to methylumbelliferone was synthesized and used as a ligand for coordination with europium ions. Characterization of the complex by mass spectrometry and spectrophotometry was performed in aqueou ...

The synthesis and characterization of several new phosphorus-containing partially lower rim substituted derivatives of 5,11,17,23-tetra(t-butyl) calix(4)arene (1) and 5,11,17,23-tetra(t-octyl)calix(4)arene (II), namely 5,11,17,23-tetra(t-butyl)-25,27-dihyd ...

Highly selective separation of yttrium (and lanthanides) is of interest for the design of radiopharmaceuticals, and an efficient method based on the ion-imprinting concept is proposed here. The synthesis and structural, thermodynamic and photophysical char ...

Since their discovery in 2012, carbazolyl (iso)phthalonitrile derivatives (Cz(I)PN) have found significant applications as photocatalysts in organic chemistry. Herein, we introduce two efficient methods for incorporating carbazolyl cyanobenzenes into vario ...

Molecular medical imaging is intended to increase the accuracy of diagnosis, particularly in cardiovascular and cancer-related diseases, where early detection could significantly increase the treatment success rate. In this study, we present mixed micelles ...

A new macrocyclic ligand,

L^3

, has been synthesised, based on the cyclen framework grafted with three phenacyl light-harvesting groups and a C5-alkyl chain bearing a carboxylic acid function as a potential linker for biological material. Acidity constant ...

New polydentate ligands (e.g., Tsox and TsoxMe) have been synthesized to take advantage of the chelating effect of bidentate 8-hydroxyquinolinate subunits connected to a N,N,N¢,N¢-tetraaminopropyl-1,2-ethylenediamine framework and with the aim of sensitizi ...

Achieving substrate generality in asymmetric catalysis remains a long-standing goal, particularly for the selective construction of chiral heteroatoms. Compared with carbon, sulfur, phosphorus and silicon stereogenic centres, methods for the construction o ...

Lanthanide complexes with two push-pull diketone derivatives as sensitizers have been developed as synthons for near-infrared emitting materials. The ligand substituents consist of a carbazole moiety with hole-transport properties and an aromatic or hetero ...

As the need for targeting luminescent biolabels increases, for mapping selected analytes, imaging of cells and organs, and tracking in cellulo processes, lanthanide bimetallic helicates are emerging as versatile bioprobes. The wrapping of three ligand stra ...

The homoditopic ligand 6,6’- [methylenebis(1-methyl-1H-benzimid- azole-5,2-diyl)]bis(4-{2-[2-(2-methoxy- ethoxy)ethoxy]ethoxy}pyridine-2-carboxylic acid) (H2LC2) has been tailored to self-assemble with lanthanide ions (LnIII), which results in the formatio ...

The new homoditopic ligand

H_2L^{C2'}

self-assembles with lanthanide ions (

Ln^{III}

) to yield neutral bimetallic helicates of overall composition

[Ln_2(L^{C2'})_3]

; it is fitted with two hexakis(oxyethylene) chains to test their effects on the thermo ...

Europium, terbium, dysprosium, and samarium are the main trivalent lanthanide ions emitting in the visible spectrum. In this work, the potential of these ions for colorimetric applications and colour reproduction was studied. The conversion of spectral dat ...

Nuclear magnetic resonance suffers from an intrinsically low sensitivity, which can be overcome by dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP). Gd(III) complexes are attractive exogenous polarizing agents for magic angle spinning (MAS) DNP due to their high chemica ...
