RhCl3 is shown to mediate unusual coupling reactions of tert-butyl acetylene. When RhCl3(H2O)n was heated with four equivalents of tert-butyl acetylene in methanol, the dinuclear complex [{Rh(μ-Cl)(CH2tBu)(tBuC=CHCOCH2tBu)}2] (2) was isolated. A larger exc ...

A series of trans-platinum(IV) complexes with functionalized aromatic carboxylate ligands, cis,cis,trans-Pt(NH3)2Cl2(CO2C6H4R)2 (R = H (3), p-vinyl (4), p-methoxy (5), p-iodo (6), ...

Two new bis(diphenylphosphino) amines, N,N-bis(diphenylphosphino) benzidine 1 and N, N-bis(diphenylphosphino)- 3,3-dimethoxybenzidine 2 were prepared by aminolysis. Their corresponding oxides, sulfides and selenides were readily prepared by reaction with h ...

Polymer semiconductors show unique combinations of mechanical and optoelectronic properties that strongly depend on their microstructure and morphology. Here, we have used a model pi-conjugated bithiophene repeat unit to incorporate optoelectronic function ...

A new zwitterionic bidentate ligand was synthesized incorporating a 4,4'-bipyridine core with a carboxylate group as a single building block, specifically designed for the rational construction of supramol. structures (metal-org. frameworks) that are capab ...

The two known Me- and allyl-substituted 1H-imidazol-3-ium bromides 1 and 2, respectively, were converted to the corresponding BF4- and BPh4- salts 3-6 (Scheme 1). Compounds 3 and 4 were liquids at ambient temperature. Reaction of 1 or 2 with [PdCl2] afford ...

Two nitrile-functionalized alkyltriflouroborate anion based complexes [(Ph3P)(2)N][CH3CH(BF3)CH2CN] and [K(18-crown-6)][CH3CH(BF3)CH2CN] were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods and single X-ray diffraction analysis. In the former comple ...

The synthesis of topologically complex structures, such as links and knots, is one of the current challenges in supramolecular chemistry. The so-called Solomon link consists of two doubly interlocked rings. Despite being a rather simple link from a topolog ...

Sterically hindered N-aryl-benzimidazole pyridine-2-carboxylic acids (aryl = phenyl, 4-biphenyl, 2-naphthyl) readily form homoleptic, neutral, nine-coordinate europium complexes which display efficient sensitized luminescence in solid state and in dichloro ...

The phosphorylation of a series of diaminopyridines (2,3-, 3,4-, 2,5- and 2,6-diaminopyridine), with various molecular equivalents of chlorodiphenylphosphine in the presence of TEA has been studied. Notably, phosphorylation of 2,3- and 3,4-diaminopyridine ...

The silsesquioxane ligand (Bu-i)(7)Si7O9(OH)(3) ((POSSH3)-P-iBu) is revealed as an attractive system for the assembly of robust polynuclear complexes of uranium(III) and allowed the isolation of the first example of a trinuclear U(III) complex ([U-3((POSS) ...

End-on binding of dinitrogen to low valent metal centres is common in transition metal chemistry but remains extremely rare in f-elements chemistry. In particular, heterobimetallic end-on N2 bridged complexes of lanthanides are unprecedented despite their ...

Polycarboxylate ligands are among the most important building blocks for the synthesis of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). The ability to access these ligands in an efficient way is of key importance for future applications of MOFs. Here, we demonstrate th ...

A series of thioether-functionalised imidazolium salts have been prepared and characterized. Subsequent reaction of the thioether-functionalised imidazolium salts with iodomethane affords imidazolium-sulfonium salts composed of doubly charged cations and t ...

Biopolymers often show deterministic chain folding templated by repeat unit sequences whose conformations are locked in by intramolecular interactions. In this work, we have used repeat units based on rigid anthracene or acridine scaffolds, which we refer ...

The hexanuclear [Na12Fe6(tris-cyclo-salophen)(2)(THF)(14)], 1-THF, and the trinuclear [Na6Fe3(tris-cyclo-salophen)(py)(9)], 1-py, Fe(II) clusters can be easily assembled in one step from the ligand-based reduction of the [FeII(salophen)(THF)] complex. Thes ...

Dinuclear metal complexes have emerged as a promising class of biologically active compounds which possess unique anticancer activity. Here, we describe a novel series of arene-linked dinuclear organometallic Ru(II) complexes, where the relative conformati ...

Four new bis(phosphino)amine ligands (Ph2P)2N-C6H3-R, where R = 3,5-OMe (1), 2,5-OMe (2), 2,4-OMe (3) or 3,4-OMe (4), were prepd. via aminolysis of the corresponding dimethoxyanilines with 2 equiv. of diphenylphosphine chloride in the presence of tri-Et am ...

Spherical assemblies of the type [PdnL2n]2n+ can be obtained from PdII salts and curved N-donor ligands, L. It is well established that the bent angle, α, of the ligand is a decisive factor in the self-assembly process, with larger angles leading to comple ...
