Platform chemicals are usually derived from petrochemical feedstocks. A sustainable alternative commences with lignocellulosic biomass, a renewable feedstock, but one that is highly challenging to process. Ionic liquids (ILs) are able to solubilize biomass ...

Applying additives to perovskite precursor solutions is an effective way to passivate perovskite films for the construction of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with increased power-conversion efficiencies (PCEs) and enhanced stabilities. Ionic liquids (ILs) w ...

Mononuclear trivalent lanthanide complexes with formula [Ln(L)(NO3)3] [in which L=4,4-difluoro-8-(2:2;6:2-terpyridin-4-yl)-1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-2,6-diethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (Boditerpy)] are reported for Ln=Yb, Nd, Er, La and Gd. According to th ...

Lanthanide redox reactivity remains limited to one-electron transfer reactions due to their inability to access a broad range of oxidation states. Here, we show that multielectron reductive chemistry is achieved for ytterbium by using the tripodal tris(sil ...

A series of compounds of general formula [Ru(eta(6)-fluoroarene)(pta)Cl-2] (fluoroarene = C6H5F, C6H5CF3, and 1,4-C6H4CH3F; pta = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo[3.3.1.1]decane) have been prepared and characterized spectroscopically. Additionally, X-ray dif ...

Ynolates or ketenyl anions, [RCCO]-, are negatively charged reactive intermediates, which can be generated in situ and used for divergent chemical transformations. Ynolates can react either at the oxygen or carbon centres or across the C-C triple bond, mak ...

A series of fluorescent imidazolium-based salts contg. the cation [AnCH2MeIm]+ (in which An=anthracene and Im=the imidazolium cation) with Cl-, BF4-, PF6-, SO3CF3-, [N(CN)2]-, [N(SO2CF3)2]-, or PhBF3- anions have been prepd. and characterized. X-ray diffra ...

The synthesis, structure, and reactivity with CO2 and CS2 of new U(IV) complexes with a redox-active Schiff base are reported. The reaction of UI3 with the heptadentate Schiff base ligand 2,2',2 ''-tris(salicylideneimino)-triethylamine (trensal) did not le ...

Here we show that a scaffold combining siloxide ligands and a bridging oxide allows the synthesis and characterization of the stable dinuclear uranium(IV) hydride complex [K-2{U(OSi((OBu)-Bu-t)(3))(3)(mu-O)(mu-H)(2)}], 2, which displays high reductive ...

A series of neutral ruthenium(II) arene complexes [(arene)Ru(Q(R))Cl] (arene = p-cymene (cym) or hexamethylbenzene (hmb)) containing 4-acyl-5-pyrazolonate Q(R) ligands with different electronic and steric substituents (R = 4-cyclohexyl, 4-stearoyl, or 4-ad ...

Lanthanides (Ln) usually occur in the +3, or more recently the +2, oxidation states. The only example of an isolated molecular Ln(4+) so far remains Ce4+. Here we show that the +4 oxidation state is also accessible in a molecular compound of terbium as dem ...

The synthesis and characterization of several new phosphorus-containing partially lower rim substituted derivatives of 5,11,17,23-tetra(t-butyl) calix(4)arene (1) and 5,11,17,23-tetra(t-octyl)calix(4)arene (II), namely 5,11,17,23-tetra(t-butyl)-25,27-dihyd ...

Reaction of Ln(III) with a tetrakis(diketone) ligand H4L [1,1?-(4,4?-(2,2-bis((4-(4,4,4-trifluoro-3-oxobutanoyl) phenoxy)methyl)propane-1,3-diyl)bis(oxy)bis(4,1-phenylene))bis(4,4,4-trifluorobutane-1,3-dione)] gives new podates which, according to mass spe ...

Compounds that combine metal-based drugs with covalently linked targeted organic agents have been shown, in some instances, to exhibit superior anticancer properties compared to the individual counterparts. Within this framework, we prepared a series of or ...

Chiral lactam 2 and three chiral 3-amino alcohols 3-5 have been synthesized and characterized by Sspectroscopic techniques. Regioselective ring opening reaction of chiral styrene oxide by an amine nucle-ophile was confirmed by X-ray diffraction data. Ligan ...

Microwave heating was employed to promote arene displacement in reactions of [{(p-cymene)RuCl2}(2)] or [{(1,3,5-C-6,H(3)iPr(3))RuCl2}(2)] with neutral chelate ligands L-L' [L-L': 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphanyl)methane, 1,1'- bis(diphenylphosphanyl)ferrocene, ...

N,N-Bis(diphenylphosphino)ethylaniline compounds, Ph2PN-C6H4-C2H5, with ethyl groups at the ortho- and para-positions have been synthesized. Oxidation of the aminophosphines with hydrogen peroxide, elemental sulfur and selenium gave the corresponding ...

Highly selective separation of yttrium (and lanthanides) is of interest for the design of radiopharmaceuticals, and an efficient method based on the ion-imprinting concept is proposed here. The synthesis and structural, thermodynamic and photophysical char ...

Ethynylbenziodoxol(on)e (EBX) cyclic hypervalent iodine reagents have become popular reagents for the alkynylation of radicals and nucleophiles, but only offer limited possibilities for further structure and reactivity fine-tuning. Herein, the synthesis of ...

The well-defined catalytic conversion of dinitrogen (N2) to ammonia (NH3) by molecular complexes is of fundamental interest and important for providing an atomic-level understanding of reactivity that can be related to industrial and biological nitrogen-fi ...
