The multicomponent reaction of diboronic acids with a catechol and a tripyridyl linker results in the formation trigonal prismatic cages. The cages feature six dative boron–nitrogen bonds as structure-directing elements. The size of the cages can be varied ...

Semiaromatic polyamides are attractive engineering polymers owing to their outstanding thermo-mechanical properties. To expand the scope of semiaromatic polyamides by additional optoelectronic features, one may consider the incorporation of extended pi-con ...

Alkylidene ketenes typically display high intrinsic reactivity, impeding isolation on a preparative scale. Herein, we report the synthesis of alkylidene ketenes by reaction of imidazole-based diazoolefins with carbon monoxide. The good thermal stability of ...

We report on five cationic iridium(III) complexes with cyclometalating 2-(3'-trifluoromethylphenyl)pyridine and a diimine, (C boolean AND N)(2)Ir(N boolean AND N), N boolean AND N = 4,4'-R-2-2,2'-dipyridyl or 4,7-R-2-1,10-phenanthroline (R = H, Me, ...

Cationic bis-cyclometalated iridium(III) complexes (C boolean AND N)(2)Ir(N boolean AND N) with 2-(2'-pyridyl)-5-R-1,3,4-oxadiazoles (N boolean AND N; R = 1-adamantyl, mesityl, N-diphenylamino) have a redox gap of 2.58-2.68 V and exhibit orange-red ...

Homometallic copper complexes with alkenylidene ligands are discussed as intermediates in catalysis but the isolation of such complexes has remained elusive. Herein, we report the structural characterization of copper complexes with bridging and terminal a ...

A ruthenium(II)-arene complex with a perfluoroalkyl-ligand was found to display remarkable selectivity toward cancer cells. IC50 values on several cancer cell lines are in the range of 25-45 mu M, and no cytotoxic effect was observed on nontumorigenic (HEK ...

The dinitrogen (N2) chemistry of lanthanides remains less developed compared to the d-block metals and lanthanide-promoted N2 functionalization chemistry in well-defined lanthanide complexes remains elusive. Here we report the synthesis and characterizatio ...

Homoleptic mononuclear nine-coordinate lanthanum(III) and europium(III) tris-complexes [Ln(N^N^O)3]·nH2O with two tridentate N-benzyl-benzimidazole pyridine-2-carboxylates exhibit a rare C3-symmetry of the lanthanide coordination polyhedron in the solid st ...

A new family of organometallic p-cymene ruthenium(II) and osmium(II) complexes conjugated to ethacrynic acid, a glutathione transferase (GST) inhibitor, is reported. The ethacrynic acid moiety (either one or two) is tethered to the arene ruthenium(II) and ...

Sequential intermolecular atom transfer radical addition reactions of activated dichlorides Cl2CRR′ (R = CN, CO2Et, R′ = H, CN, CO2Et) with two olefins catalyzed by [Cp*RuCl2(PPh3)] in the presence Mg allow the synthesis of linear 1,5-dichlorides. Differen ...

A [FeIIFeII] dithiolate complex containing acyl and carbonyl ligands was synthesized. The diiron complex reacted with phosphine, cyanide, isocyanide, and CO to give monomeric FeII complexes reproducing the first coordination sphere of the active site of [F ...

A new method for the synthesis of industrially important azoimidazolium dyes is presented. The procedure is based on a reagent which is rarely used in the context of synthetic organic chemistry: nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”). N2O is first coupled to N-het ...

Metal complexes bearing phosphine ligands are attracting increasing attention for their applications in medicinal chem. In particular, organometallic ruthenium-phosphine complexes have been found to exhibit promising antitumor activity. The synthesis, anti ...

Metal-mediated cleavage of the N–N bond is a rarely observed phenomenon in the chemistry of nitrous oxide (N2O). We demonstrate that, upon activation of N2O with N-heterocyclic carbenes, zerovalent nickel is able to insert into the N–N bond to give nitrosy ...

The BN connection: Crystalline and soft molecular networks can be constructed using dative BN bonds (see picture). The networks are obtained in a one-step, three-component reaction involving a triboronic acid, a catechol, and a bipyridyl linker. ...

The ability to modify the structure of nanoscopic assemblies in a controlled fashion is an important prerequisite for the creation of functional supramolecular systems. Here, we describe a heterometallic Pt2Cu2-macrocycle which behaves as a molecular hinge ...

Clusters containing nine lanthanide and six sodium ions are crystallized with the help of a tridentate ligand bearing a phosphonic acid group; the structure of the EuIII compound reveals a host-guest assembly Eu⊂Na6Eu8L16 with a substantial quantum yield ( ...
