The present invention concerns an insulating glazing unit (1) adapted to let pass electromagnetic radiation with low transmission loss for receiving electromagnetic radiation. The insulating glazing unit (1) comprises: a first windowpane (3) defining at le ...

The present paper deals with the deposition of Cu-Co-Mn oxides thin film by magnetron sputtering to produce a black selective coating for solar Parabolic Trough Collector (PTC) systems. The effect of temperature was studied between the nominal temperature ...

Titanium-containing amorphous hydrogenated carbon films (a-C:H/Ti) have been deposited by a medium-frequency-driven physical vapor deposition plasma-enhanced chemical-vapor deposition process at 40 kHz. Core-level photoelectron spectroscopy and valence-ban ...

Solar thermal energy is generally accepted as very energy efficient in providing space heating and cooling, desalination of sea water or solar thermal electricity generation. For all these applications, one of the key elements is the optical selective coat ...

Electrochromic windows can darken on demand to limit the solar gains entering a building to reduce the risk of overheating, while preserving the view towards the exterior. Yet, the switching speed and contrast as well as the durability of commercial produc ...

Triple glazed low-e coated insulating glass units with argon filling of five different suppliers on the European market with a declared thermal transmittance in the undisturbed centre of glass (Ug-value) of 0.6 W/m(2)K have been purchased from resellers an ...

In order to modulate the solar gains of a building, electrochromic windows can be used. To improve their durability, inorganic solid state electrolytes are considered. This work reports on the investigation of tungsten trioxide (WO3) and lithium phosphorou ...

We establish insulator-to-metal transition (IMT) in Vanadium dioxide (VO2) by millimeter-wave (mm-wave) actuation, using two coupled dipole antennas: a simple one as a continuous mm-wave-source and the other one with an embedded VO2 part as an absorber. We ...

Proper daylighting designs in interior spaces may reduce the energy costs of electric lighting and improve the productivity of occupants. This paper reports the potential advantages of a multifunctional complex fenestration system with embedded micro-mirro ...

The present invention concerns a laser engraving device (1) for engraving a target surface (17). The laser engraving device (1) comprises: a beam splitter (7) for dividing a processing laser beam (25) into a plurality of engraving laser beams (27); a first ...

A novel glazing system consisting of a polymer layer with embedded micro compound parabolic concentrators (CPCs), which is attached to a glass pane of glazing, is proposed. It aims to reduce the energy consumption due to cooling in buildings, provide dayli ...

Thermochromic GexV1-xO2+y thin films have been deposited on Si (100) substrates by means of reactive magnetron sputtering. The films were then characterized by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS), four-point probe electrical resistivity measuremen ...

A real case study and characterisation of modern energy efficient windows allowing mobile communication is presented. An earlier study had shown that laser scribing of energy saving coatings allows highly reducing the microwave attenuation (from 30 to 1-3d ...

Hydroxide exchange membrane fuel cell (HEMFC) is a potentially cost-effective energy conversion technology. However, current state-of-the-art HEMFCs require a high loading of platinum-group-metal (PGM) catalysts, especially for the hydrogen oxidation react ...

Cu-Co-Mn spinel oxide thin films are deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering. The x-ray diffraction (XRD) spectrum suggests a nanocrystalline spinel film when sputtered at approximate to 465 degrees C. In-line scanning tunneling microscopy confirms nano ...

Multilayered inteference filters of dielectric thin films have been designed for the application as energy-efficient coloration of collector cover glasses. The optical behavior of the designed multilayers is analyzed by computer simulations yielding the CI ...

One main obstacle to facade integration of solar thermal collectors lies in the formal characteristics and low flexibility of available products. Major problems are the black and irregular appearance of their absorbers, their low dimensional flexibility an ...

Low-emissive Transparent Conductive Oxide (TCO) coatings, such as Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) films, can be used to reduce radiative losses that affect Hybrid photovoltaic-thermal (PV-T) devices. This work shows the optical properties of ITO deposited by magnet ...

Formamidinium-based lead triiodide perovskite (FAPI) is the workhorse candidate for highly efficient perovskite solar cells owing to its ideal bandgap and phase purity. An essential condition to that is the formation of a pure alpha-black phase, commonly t ...
