In this work, nanosphere lithography was integrated with standard microfabrication for the wafer-scale fabrication of silicon nitride (SiN) membranes with arrays of submicrometer holes. A monolayer of polystyrene (PS) beads with a mean diameter of 428 or 5 ...

We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally the possibility to achieve the strong coupling regime at room temperature with a microwave electronic oscillator coupled with an ensemble of electron spins. The coupled system shows bistable behaviour, with a ...

We present the characterization of dyed doped/modified Epocore resist (Microresist Technology, Germany) with three commercially-available dyes (Proquimac Color, Spain). After being doped with lilac, red and yellow dyes in a 1:2500 ratio (dye:Epocore, w:w), ...

This work describes the use of a piezo-actuated inkjet print head with a nozzle aperture of 50 mu m to obtain picoliter drops of different model ionic liquids (ILs). A theoretical analysis of the microdrop generation of three model ILs is confirmed by expe ...

FAIMS's ion separation mechanism is based on analyte's characteristic nonlinear relationship between its ion mobility and applied electric field strength. Present characterization methods for this nonlinear relationship are based on precarious assumptions ...

This work presents the fabrication and characterization of a novel hydrogen-detecting micro-resonator based on the expansion of palladium (Pd) as it is exposed to hydrogen (H2) gas. The working principle of the device has been confirmed and it shows a stro ...

Micronozzles with piezoelectric actuator were fabricated and investigated. The micronozzles were fabricated in glass substrates using a powderblasting technique, and the actuator is a bimorph structure made from a piezoelectric polymer. The actuator was lo ...

Two superposed layers of transparent cylindrical lenslet gratings create classical moiré fringes, when illuminated from behind. We rely on this observation to conceive special devices made of superposed lenslet gratings that produce animated moirés when th ...

Hall devices having an active area of about (500 nm)(2) are fabricated by focused electron-beam-induced deposition. The deposited material consists of cobalt nanoparticles in a carbonaceous matrix. The realized devices have, at room temperature, a current ...

Controlling alginate gel formation by diffusion of Ca2+ ions through a filter barrier, a layer-by-layer deposition technique with resolution on the size scale of a single cell is presented. It offers the possibility of exposing cells under biocompatible co ...

The co-integration of logic switches and neuromorphic functions could be used to create new computing architectures with low power consumption and novel functionalities. Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors and ferroelectric materials could be potentially u ...

This work reports on a considerable resolution improvement of micro/nanostencil lithography when applied on full-wafer scale by using compliant membranes to reduce gap-induced pattern blurring. Silicon nitride (SiN) membranes are mechanically decoupled fro ...

Triboelectric nanogenerators are establishing themselves as promising candidates for realizing high-efficient energy harvesting from largely available droplets. However, the conventional droplet-based liquid-solid triboelectric nanogenerator (DLS-TENG) has ...

We describe the fabrication and application of a bioanalytical chip, made of SU-8 photoresist, comprising integrated, high aspect-ratio microfluidic channels, suitable to manipulate and investigate vesicles, cell fragments and biological cells. A central m ...

Implantable drug delivery systems that can realize a scheduled drug release according to the needs of patients would be highly beneficial for the treatment of chronic diseases and cancer. Here, micrometer‐sized hydrogel particles with both thermal and pH s ...

The reliable and reproducible fabrication of nanostructures by stencil lithography faces three main challenges: the stability of the thin stencil membranes with nanoapertures, the blurring of the deposited structures, and the clogging of the nanoapertures ...

We developed Al2O3/W heterogeneous nanopore arrays for field effect modulated nanofluidic diodes. They are fabricated by transferring self-organized nanopores of anodic aluminium oxide into a W thin film. The nanopores are ∼20 nm in diameter and 400 nm in ...

We propose a novel combination of two-photon polymerization (2PP) three-dimensional (3D) micro-manufacturing with drop-on-demand inkjet printing (DOD IJP) to fabricate 3D microporous scaffolds embedded with minute quantities of releasable drug. We designed ...

This study presents the development of a 3D lipid microhelix capable of simultaneously delivering drugs with different characteristics, including water-soluble and poorly water-soluble drugs. Lipid microhelix encapsulating magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and ...

Ceramics are highly technical materials with properties of interest for multiple industries. Precisely because of their high chemical, thermal, and mechanical resistance, ceramics are difficult to mold into complex shapes. A possibility to make convoluted ...
