Stencil lithography is used here for the fabrication of bismuth nanowires using thermal evaporation. This technique provides good electrical contact resistance by having the nanowire structure and the contact pads deposited at the same time. It has also th ...

Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy is demonstrated as a suitable technique to characterize silicon nanocrystals (Si-NCs)-based nonvolatile memory devices. The 2D array of Si-NCs forming the floating gate is obtained by low-energy ion implantation in thin ...

This paper presents the experimental and numerical study of hydrophobic interaction forces at nanometer scale in the scope of engineering micron-sized building blocks for self-assembly in liquid. The hydrophobic force distance relation of carbon, Teflon an ...

In this paper, we study the localized deposition of ZnO micro and nanostructures deposited by non-reactive rf-magnetron sputtering through a stencil mask on ultra-thin (10 nm) SiO2 layers containing a single plane of silicon nanocrystals (NCs), synthetized ...

An epoxy-based negative-tone photoresist, which is known as a suitable material for high-aspect-ratio surface micromachining, is functionalized with red-light-emitting CdSe@ZnS nanocrystals (NCs). The proper selection of a common solvent for the NCs and th ...

A microactuator made from poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), a piezoelectric polymer, was fabricated to control the gas flow rate through a glass micronozzle. The actuator was formed by gluing together two PVDF sheets with opposite polarization directions. ...

We report on a fully CMOS compatible fabrication method for ambipolar silicon nanowire FinFETs. The low thermal budget processing, compatible with monolithic 3D device integration, makes use of low pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) of amorphous Si ...

A quantitative analysis of the blurring and its dependence on the stencil-substrate gap and the deposition parameters in stencil lithography, a high resolution shadow mask technique, is presented. The blurring is manifested in two ways: first, the structur ...

Electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) has become an experimental method of choice for the investigation of localized surface plasmon resonances, allowing the simultaneous mapping of the associated field distributions and their resonant energies with a n ...

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments on subnanoliter (sub-nL) volumes are hindered by the limited sensitivity of the detector and the difficulties in positioning and holding such small samples in proximity of the detector. In this work, we report o ...

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a polymer with remarkable physico-chemical properties which has been used for membrane and biomedical applications [1]. This fluorpolymer is however difficult or cost- inhibiting to pattern with conventional methods with h ...

Ink-jet printing of optical ink over SU-8 pillars is here proposed as a technology for obtaining microlenses with shape control. To demonstrate the flexibility of this method, microlenses with five different contour shapes (ranging from circular and ellipt ...

A volume hologram recorded with a lens array is proposed as a color transflective screen for Head Worn Display (HWD) systems. Design, fabrication as well as proof of concept are reported. Light from a single MEMS-based projector is efficiently diffracted t ...

Highly inorganic sol–gel films and patterned surfaces with up to 90% of titania were obtained by hydrolysis and condensation of Titanium(IV) isopropoxide. As a consequence of titania photocatalytic effect, the further treatment of the nanoimprint patterned ...

We present a review on stencil lithography and focus on the particular interest and challenges when applying it to the scalable fabrication of nm-size devices. We first describe the basic technique with its main advantages and challenges. Then we review th ...

We report on the design and characterization of single-chip electron spin resonance (ESR) detectors operating at 50 GHz, 92 GHz, and 146 GHz. The core of the single-chip ESR detectors is an integrated LC-oscillator, formed by a single turn aluminum planar ...

We present a parallel, full wafer technique for deposition of catalyst on released scanning probe bodies for the growth of individual high aspect-ratio Si nanowire tips. 1-D probes are necessary for imaging high aspect-ratio nano-patterns, such as deep and ...

We propose an original approach called “stencil-masked ion implantation process” to perform a spatially localized synthesis of a limited number of Si nanoparticles (nps) within a thin SiO2 layer. This process consists in implanting silicon ions at ultra-lo ...

Quaternary semiconductor Cu2ZnSnSe4 (CZTSe) is a very promising alternative to semiconductors based on indium (In) and gallium (Ga) as solar absorber material due to its direct band gap, inherent high absorption coefficient (> 10(4) cm(-1)) and abundance o ...

The morphological transition in ultrathin palladium (Pd) films around the percolation threshold and the related transition in hydrogen sensing behavior is investigated. We find that besides the transition from continuous to discontinuous Pd, an intermediate ...
