The ability to control and pump high ionic strength fluids inside microchannels forms a major advantage for clinical diagnostics and drug screening processes, where high conductive biological and physiological buffers are used. Despite the known potential ...

Bioresorbable implantable medical devices show a great potential for applications requiring medical care over well‐defined periods of time. Once their function is fulfilled, such implants naturally degrade and resorb in the body, which eliminates adverse l ...

Electronic skins are expected to replicate a human-like tactile sense, which significantly detects surface information, including geometry, material, and temperature. Although most texture features can be sensed in the horizontal direction, the lack of eff ...

Sodium-ion technology is a reliable alternative to lithium-ion for large-scale energy storage because of the abundance of sodium sources and related low cost. In this work, we report about a simple fabrication of self-standing electrodes based on electrosp ...

We present here Al2O3/W hetero-structured nanopore membranes which function as native and electrical field tunable nanofluidic diodes. A typical membrane is 100×100 μm2 in size with pore density of ∼ 20/μm2. The nanopores are 26 nm in diameter and 400 nm i ...

Nanoscale color printing has recently emerged as a unique alternative to traditional pigments by providing record spatial resolution, angular independent, durable and single material colors. Widely based on plasmonic nanostructures, numerous efforts in the ...

The development of nanoscale lithographic methods on polymer materials is a key requirement to improve the spatial resolution and performance of flexible devices. Here, we report the fabrication of metallic nanostructures down to 20 and 50 nm in size on po ...

The science and engineering of two-dimensional materials (2DMs), in particular, of 2D semiconductors, is advancing at a thriving pace. It is well known that these delicate few-atoms thick materials can be damaged during the processing toward their integrat ...

We present the fabrication and characterization of large arrays of inkjet-printed superparamagnetic polymer composite (SPMPC) hemispherical microstructures. SPMPCs are appealing for applications in microsystems and nanorobotics due to the added functionali ...

We are developing a new approach to leverage Mixed Reality (MR) affordances for teaching microfabrication processes, such as performed in a cleanroom. Our goal is to design interactive MR content to improve microfabrication and cleanroom training practices ...

We report on the top-down fabrication of vertically-stacked polysilicon nanowire (NW) gate-all-around (GAA) field-effect-transistors (FET) by means of Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) etching and nanostencil lithography. The nanostencil is used to form sub ...

The rapid development of wearable sensing technology exhibits unprecedented opportunities for artificial intelligence by establishing an interactive interface between the physical and the virtual worlds. Energy preservation and multi-functional integration ...

We report the first experimental demonstration and performance characterization of a fully integrated negative capacitance (NC) WSe2/SnSe2 p-type Tunnel FETs (TFETs), validating the use of NC as a technology booster to achieve a significantly improved sub- ...

Local bandgap tuning in two-dimensional (2D) materials is of significant importance for electronic and optoelectronic devices but achieving controllable and reproducible strain engineering at the nanoscale remains a challenge. Here, we report on thermomech ...

A commercial scanning thermal microscope has been upgraded to facilitate its use in estimating the radial thermal diffusivity of thin films close to room temperature. The modified setup includes a microcontroller driven microhotplate coupled with a Bluetoo ...

Microwave superconducting resonators are extensively studied in fields such as quantum computing and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. However, the integration of superconducting resonators with feedback mechanisms to create ultra-low noise oscil ...

The resolving power, chemical sensitivity and non-invasive nature of NMR have made it an established technique for in vivo studies of large organisms both for research and clinical applications. NMR would clearly be beneficial for analysis of entities at t ...

We demonstrate the application of inkjet-printed near room-temperature chemiresistors composed of polymer-carbon black (CB) composites for detecting and classifying volatile organic compounds (VOC). Our results demonstrate that the printed sensors can sele ...

The controlled tuning of the characteristic dimensions of two-dimensional arrays of block-copolymer reverse micelles deposited on silicon surfaces is demonstrated. The polymer used is polystyrene-block-poly(2-vinylpyridine) (91500-b-105000 g mol–1). Revers ...

AFM-based cell force spectroscopy is an emerging research method that already has enhanced our understanding of the structural changes that take place in a cell as it becomes cancerous. However, the method is limited as it is not time-efficient in its curr ...
