This paper describes the implementation and performance analysis of the first fully operational beam-space multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna for the spatial multiplexing of two QPSK streams. The antenna is composed of a planar three-port radiat ...

The concept, analysis, and design of series switches for graphene-strip plasmonic waveguides at near infrared frequencies are presented. Switching is achieved by using graphene's field effect to selectively enable or forbid propagation on a section of the ...

This letter relates to the development of satellite reflectarrays able to scan a single dual-polarized beam, based on monolayer resonating cells embedding digital microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). We study general topology constraints to be imposed on ...

In this presentation we will review our recent activity related to the dynamic reconfiguration of periodic structures and their application. Different reconfigurable periodic 'meta' transmission lines, reconfigurable uniform and a-periodic metasurfaces, wi ...

The modeling and design of metamaterial composite right/left handed transmission lines (CRLH-TL) is usually based on the assumption that its unit cell is small in terms of the host TL wavelength (d 0). However, it was also shown that this assumption is not ...

We present a X-band 1-bit reconfigurable reflectarray (RRA) cell capable of independent reflection phase control of each linear component of a dual-polarized wave. It presents the lowest loss ever reported in an operational RRA cell at microwave frequencie ...

Advances in reflectarrays and array lenses with electronic beam-forming capabilities are enabling a host of new possibilities for these high-performance, low-cost antenna architectures. This paper reviews enabling technologies and topologies of reconfigura ...

This article considers the exploitation of parasitic antenna arrays in multi-user (MU) wireless communication systems by using their adaptive beamforming capabilities in order to improve the average system throughput. The use of parasitic arrays and especi ...

The performance and design of the novel single-RF-chain beam-space MIMO antenna concept is evaluated for the first time in the presence of the user. First, the variations of different performance parameters are evaluated when placing a beam-space MIMO ante ...

A novel single layer, dual linear polarized unit cell is introduced for a quad-band reflectarray antenna in the Ku-band centered around 12, 13, 14, and 15.5 GHz. The unit-cell design is such that the resultant reflectarray antenna can be considered as four ...

In this paper, two THz reflectarray surfaces have been designed and fabricated in order to deflect a plane wave with any polarization and with a specific incident angle to three different specific directions each at distinct three frequencies of 0.7, 1.0 a ...
