Compressive Raman imaging has emerged as a promising technique to speed up chemical imaging by compressing the data during acquisition. Yet, current scanning imaging speed is fundamentally limited by the sensors pixel dwell times of at best 1µs. Here, we i ...

The goal of this paper is to introduce CMOS-based single-photon detectors in terms of technology and applications. We cover background and recent progress on the detectors and describe emerging applications based on the technology. ...

The emerging field of quantum imaging introduces new methods to overcome classical limitations in optical microscopy. A detection apparatus capable of analyzing the quantum signature of light, is a crucial component in the heart of any such method. We present a novel quantum imaging modality, based on a state-of-the-art single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array in a confocal setup. This modality enables unprecedented simplicity and scalability in imaging temporal photon correlations. We demonstrate the pot

We describe a novel type of two-photon interferometer, capable of spectral binning, for quantum-assisted astrometry. We also demonstrated a single-photon spectrometer with spectral and timing resolutions of 0.1 nm and 50 ps, which can be used for this purp ...

We developed a deep learning (DL) model to enhance mesoscopic fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLI). By fusing low-resolution time-resolved images from a time-gated SPAD detector with high-resolution intensity images from a shortwave infrared (SWIR) InGaAs detector, we produced upsampled high-resolution FLI images. The DL model, featuring LSTM and 3D convolutional layers, was trained on simulated temporal point spread functions and validated with tissue-mimicking phantoms. Results showed highly accurate upsam

In near infrared fluorescence-guided surgical oncology, it is challenging to distinguish healthy from cancerous tissue. One promising research avenue consists in the analysis of the exogenous fluorophores' lifetime, which are however in the (sub-)nanosecon ...

We introduce a new family of single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) with enhanced depletion regions in a 55-nm Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) technology. We demonstrate how to systematically engineer doping profiles in the main junction and in deep p-well layers ...

Spectrometry of a quantum state of light is a fundamental challenge with practical implications. Here, we demonstrate how such a technique can super-resolve the exciton and biexciton energies in a single quantum dot at room temperature. ...

Providing sensory feedback for myoelectric prosthetic users can not only increase the manipulation ability but can also introduce a feeling of embodiment. Previous research has demonstrated the feasibility of providing mechanotactile or vibrotactile feedba ...

This paper explores the retention time (RT) properties of dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) arrays at cryogenic temperatures (4 K). We provide an in-depth examination of leakage sources to elucidate RT behaviour across different temperatures, and we cond ...

Quantum ghost imaging is a method that utilizes thecorrelated detection of two photons to generate an image. One photonis detected by an imaging sensor and the other by a single-elementbucket detector. The selection of the imaging sensor and itscapabilitie ...

Reinterpretable cameras are defined by their post-processing capabilities that exceed traditional imaging. We present "SoDaCam" that provides reinterpretable cameras at the granularity of photons, from photon-cubes acquired by single-photon devices. Photon ...

A system for photon correlation of an illuminated object and/or a light source, including a light source for illuminating the object or to correlate, an optical system having an object-facing side configured to face the object or the light source and a pro ...

Single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) are an emerging sensor technology capable of detecting individual incident photons, and capturing their time-of-arrival with high timing precision. While these sensors were limited to singlepixel or low-resolution dev ...

Cross-talk is a well-known feature of single-photon avalanche detectors. It is especially important to account for this effect in applications involving temporal coincidences of two or more photons registered by the sensor since in this case the cross-talk ...

Correlation plenoptic imaging (CPI) is a novel technological imaging modality enabling to overcome drawbacks of standard plenoptic devices, while preserving their advantages. However, a major challenge in view of real-time application of CPI is related to ...

We present a 1 megapixel single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) camera featuring 3.8 ns time gating and 24 kfps frame rate for 1-bit images, fabricated in 180 nm CMOS image sensor technology. The SPAD sensor was used to capture 2D and 3D scenes over 2 m with depth resolution of 5.4 mm and precision better than 7.8 mm (rms). We demonstrate extended dynamic range in dual exposure operation mode and show spatially overlapped multi-object detection in single-photon time-gated time-of-flight experiments. We furthe

We present a single-photon camera for fluorescence imaging, with a time resolution better than 100ps, capable of providing both intensity and lifetime images. the camera was fabricated in standard CMOS technology. With this FluoCam we show the possibility ...

The next generation of experiments in high energy particle physics will require a large increase in interaction density, which presents a challenge for particle detectors. Ring imaging Cherenkov detectors (RICH), planned for future upgrades of the LHCb, Be ...
